So here's a question- If you were told that the M's could be guaranteed to win 100 games a year for the next 5nyears, but after that they would be guaranteed to lose 100 a year for the five years after that, do you make the deal?
Yes. But it is usually more like 4 years of suck to completely rebuild but just for the sake of argument, yes.

Look, I think they keep on doing the same 1/2 ass shit. There is 11.3M on the table with dropping trash players they dropped Irias's 5M but it looks like they are keeping.
Dump them
Austin Voth (5.115): $2.2MM (102 ERA+)
Luis Urias (5.014): $5MM The only one so far
Trent Thornton (4.148): $2.1MM (100 ERA+)
Josh Rojas (4.126): $4.3MM (91 OPS+)
Sam Haggerty (4.036): $900K (Injured and expected to miss significant time)
Tayler Saucedo (3.112): $1MM (107 ERA+)
Gabe Speier (2.172): $900K (65 ERA+)
Keep
Randy Arozarena (4.129): $11.7MM
Logan Gilbert (3.144): $8.1MM
Cal Raleigh (3.085): $5.6MM
JT Chargois (5.101): $1.7MM

Rojas in particular grinds my gears. In 142 games 476 PA's he managed to drive in 31 RBI
VS
Jake Burger in 137 games in a down year for him he hit 29 bombs and drove in 76 RBI on a Miami team that hit a lot worse than us. We had a 103 OPS+ they had an 83.

And these fucking morons that run this team are blind to their moronic plan of turning an RBI position into a job share between two guys that should be bench players. Brought in when someone gets plunked in the wrist or crashes into a wall. They should not be getting the combined 917 PA's they got last year but it looks like from these reports that is their plan. Just like it was their plan last year.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting different results. Sorry for ranting here but I really want to look at a roster and think with health we could beat anybody. And it is there for the taking.
Burger with 100 more PAs put up .5 war to Rojas 2.2
100 PA's and discussing 76 vs 31 RBI doesn't make it up in near 500 to near 600 PAs. PA is and 18% difference vs a 2.5 to 1 difference in RBI production. And my position is that you can't have a utility guy manning a corner with no power and a below average bat. PERIOD! You need run producers at run producing positions (Corners), otherwise you waste a plus producer such as Cal at catcher. I will say that Josh had a bit above average defense at 3B, but that is completely wasted by a .688 OPS vs RHP, and a .357 OPS vs LHP. Josh R. = worthless player.

Throwing a 2 BWAR figure out and saying he is good for 3B going forward is dumb.

And, Bohm: had 97 RBI last season which is more than 3/1 the production.

The most basic issue is adding wins, that's what war is about. Getting past looking at individual stats, combining everything to determine how many wins a player actually delivers. I don't care about home runs, or rbis, I care about who delivers wins. Rojas delivers more wins over burger in relatively the same amount of time. You don't agree with that? That's fine, just don't bring up war. You want to be old school then go for it, what kills me is the cherry picking. War is only used if it happens to agree with someone's `already preconceived opinion

The point seems moot anyway.

They've told you they're going to get a couple infielders and that the OF is set.

Go get Brandon Lowe and Alec Bohm... add a righty who can play some 1B... there's your off season.
++\q=++q+++

Still need a DH...
You think dipoto doubles down on another dh, it was surprising last year. That one is still on the roster at $12 mil, he gets another one?
Well we need one but he hasn't mentioned so it is probably back to the rotation approach especially if they can't trick anyone to take Haniger from them.

The Mariners are unlikely to trade Logan Gilbert but this proposal is enticing:

https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-p ... tching-mlb

https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-p ... itting-mlb

An outfield of Wilyer Abreu, Julio Rodriguez and Victor Robles would be strong defensively, sending Randy Arozarena to the DH slot.

The financial implications are almost too good to be true as Triston Casas and Abreu are pre-arb while Shane Baz is projected to earn only $1.9 million in 2025. Logan Gilbert's projected salary of $8.1 million helps offset the $10.5 million owed Brandon Lowe next year.

I just don't see Boston taking Harry Ford when they already have Kyle Teel who is ranked higher or Tampa Bay trading for Arozarena again

I like the idea of getting Casas and Lowe though

You actually had me going for a minute. Thought we had landed some foreign guy.

Well, hopefully Dipoto gets some sticky spaghetti this offseason so we don't need to trade for arms at the deadline again.

Last few seasons he has to have been using uncooked Spaghetti. That's the only explanation.
