They may be able to trade for more bonus pool money. They could also rescind offers to the players they've committed to for January.
This is the 2024 International Bonus Pool available, if Sasaki waits until after January 15th the International Bonus Pool resets and they can use the 2025 Bonus pool which the Mariner's have 7ish million.

Sasaki would be foolish to not wait an extra couple of weeks to get 3x more money.
If he waits 2 more years, he can likely get 10 times more money.
Yes, but he would be 2 years older and then have to learn on the fly. When he learns how to pitch, which he has stated he wants to do, it will set him up for a bigger payday at 29.

I'm confused. Isn't Sasaki already a pitcher?

Do you mean to say that when he learns how to pitch to MLB hitters that will set him up for a big payday at 29?

Guess I'm not sure why he doesn't already know how to pitch.

Here is a quote from Sasaki:

“I will do my best to work my way up from my minor (league) contract to become the best player in the world, so that I will have no regrets in my one and only baseball career,” Sasaki said in the statement, “and so that I can live up to the expectations of everyone who has supported me this time.”

He is going to need development, he himself thinks so. That is why he is coming over now

He's just being humble. It's a cultural thing. He certainly doesn't need to learn how to pitch, though there will be an adjustment to pitching against major leaguers as the hitters in Japan typically don't have anything like the power that hitters here have.

It doesn't look good for the home team.

That is partially correct. The NPBL uses a different smaller ball so there are some sort of "growing pains" to go through.

His going to the dodgers might not be a slam dunk. If he wants to generate income it's going to come through endorsement deals. The dodgers are already a crowded field, l could see him not being that interested in championships to sacrifice for them. That would come later
Let’s have a look at Yoshinobu Yamamoto, for instance. While he’s a star in his own right, playing alongside Ohtani has made it tougher for him to secure as many endorsement deals. In fact, Mets pitcher Kodai Senga has reportedly landed more sponsorships than Yamamoto, according to a league source. According to The Athletic, Sasaki would have to weigh this factor carefully when making his decision; then, there’s the media frenzy. The Dodgers have a massive Japanese media presence, with anywhere from 25 to 35 reporters regularly covering the team.
The dodgers probably have their quota of japanese players
