. We want upgrades at 2B & 3B, and we will add 1/2 of 1B
Give me a link please where JD said that...

That's it, that's the story, a tweet

The Mariners are non-tendering Josh Rojas, Sam Haggerty, Austin Voth and JT Chargois, club announces.

Moves this week have freed up about $8M in the payroll budget, roughly doubling what the Mariners are projected to have available this offseason.
He presents it in such a way he seems confident. What purpose would it serve for Jude to lie? He doesn't need to get his name out there, he's a legitimate journalist covering a MLB team. He certainly doesn't need to state numbers he can't back up.

Nobody is denying it. If he was lying why wouldn't the mariners complain? He needs to have a working relationship with dipoto. It wouldn't be productive for him to claim something about the team he didn't believe accurate.

If the mariners in fact have a higher budget all it would do is make Judd look stupid. His reputation is based on presenting reliable information. Lying about something as straight forward to fact check as the mariners budget would only damage his career with little or nothing to be gained

I listened to the JD segment and he seems pretty firm on not trading Castillo. He didn't completely rule it out, so there is some wiggle room if the right deal comes along. But the basic idea is to keep the rotation together and not fuck with it.

That could change if we got Sasaki.

I was up and down on this interview. I was "up" on the fact that he wants to upgrade 2B & 3B. Some of the M's Blogosphere had it as upgrade one then run back Rojas/Moore platoon BS. So thankfully he is targeting both positions.
I was down on the fact that he didn't mention targeting a legit LH BP arm that pairs with Munoz, Brash, and Santos from the right side. I just think we could be so much better if we had a guy like F.A.s: Tanner Scott, Aroldis Chapman, A.J. Minter, or trade targets.

Well they sign Drew Pomeranz so there's one, hasn't pitched in the majors since 2021.

He used to be good. He had a flexor tendon repair done but has not pitched since before the August of 2021 procedure. It probably is a long shot that he comes back as a strong BP guy but let's give it a shot.

He once was very good, a curve ball. I don't mind taking a flyer. I think they are seriously hoping he can be a situational leftie option for them

That's my point, I don't think it is, Keuchel was a starter. Having him in the minors was some sort of long shot depth strategy. I'm saying I think Drew Pomeranz has a legitimate chance of making the team. They have a need for him on the ML roster. Depends if his arm is reattached of course, what the chances of that.

They didn't have an opening or need for Keuchel
This is a classic buy-low move for the M's, who have openings in the bullpen after non-tendering JT Chargois and Austin Voth last week. Furthermore, the M's haven't had a dominant lefty in the bullpen in years, utilizing Gabe Speier, Kirby Snead and Tayler Saucedo out there in 2024.

Speier and Sauce had very solid 2023's and subpar 2024's
