It's so weird how these trade apps say it's a good trade even though the Cardinals would laugh at us if we proposed this, money be damned. I don't think that any of us here would trade both those guys for Castillo.

I don't think They'd laugh at it. There is a lot of chatter that they would like to get out from under that Arrenado deal. Their top 2 guys in Innings pitched last year had a 5.35 and a 4.24 ERA respectively so they should definitely be looking for pitching.

Arenado for Castillo straight up certainly, but no way do they throw in Donovan.

Arenado has posted an OPS of .891, .774 and .719 OPS the past three season. He is owed $64M for his age 34-36 seasons and given that trend he is destined to average about a .670 OPS. He is massively under water. Castillo is sill going fairly strong and will only be 34 at the end of his deal.

Donavan is solid but nothing special. I think it is close to a fair deal that they would consider unless they just want to dump salary and want one of our cost controlled SPs.

That is a reasonable trade, for the last 2 years Nolan has been Josh freaking Rojas +10%. In 2024 Rojas was worth 2.2 BWAR, in 2023 and 2024 Nolan was worth 2.4 and 2.5 WAR. The difference is Rojas was due to be paid 4.1M and we non-tendered him vs. Nolan's 32, 27, and 15M he is getting paid with 10M covered by the Rockies. Nolan will be 34 next year and he was down to a 101 OPS+ last year with only 16 HRs. If he regresses even a little bit, he = Josh Rojas who is not worth 4 million dollars a year.

Nolan is 2 years removed from a 151 OPS+, #3 in the MVP voting stud year. last 2: 108 OPS+ in 2023, 101 OPS+ in 2024

King Felix in 2014 pitched 236 innings of 170 ERA+ ball to finish #2 in C.Y. voting. The next two years he would go 108 ERA+, and 106 ERA+, after that he went 96 ERA+, --> 73---> 68 :!:
And Felix was age 28 in 2014 vs Nolan who was age 31 back in 2022.

The M's are not one of the teams that Arenado would waive his no trade clause.
