Given what we now know:

Trade for Nico and Suzuki

Sign Santana

Roll with a Shenton and Bliss Moore at 3b. There are just no external options worth pursuing.

Sign Suzuki.

Trade for Puk. D Backs need a starter and every team needs another draft pick.

I think the best possible moves remaining at the moment are:

1B: Trade Castillo (and his 4.25 road ERA) for Casas
2B: Trade Arozarena for Arraez+RP (or someone for Brandon Lowe)
DH: Sign Joc Pederson
SP: Sign Suzuki

Rumors about a trade with the Cubs may accelerate (or maybe decelerate)... the Cubs have their All Star outfielder in Kyle Tucker now. What to do with Belli and Suzuki?

Astros get: IF Isaac Paredes, RHP Hayden Wesneski and 3B Cam Smith (Cubs No. 7 prospect).

Cubs get: RF Kyle Tucker.

Great point about Tucker, I was having a brain cramp thinking he was a 1B. They now have Happ, Tucker, Suzuki, Belli, and Pete C-A

I heard the Red Sox were still looking?

I assume it would take time to make sure they cover 3B if they make the move, or they could be working through secondary pieces.

I'm still holding out hope!

Trading aging contracts to fill a hole and reinvesting that money into players to fill other holes seems like GM 101 for a low payroll team imo.

We know they can't sign the big bats, they're going to have to make trades.
