The Rendon Catastrophe

This has to be the worst long term contract in baseball history.

Most of them are.

How about Josh Hamilton, Chris Davis, Barry Zito, and on and on and on.

As for the Mariners, since 2000 the best multi year contract was for Nelson Cruz, the ultimate competitor and Hustler.

Moreno is worth over $5 Billion and the Angels made $15M last season. Not sure I would used the word catastrophe.

The Angels in particular have been snakebit on long-term contracts worse than any other franchise, and that Rendon one is the worst by far. Didn't he say a couple years ago that he isn't really even that into baseball?

Yep, nice of him to disclose that AFTER he signed the contract.

In terms of the total lack of production they get for the humongous money.

Even Pujols' production was way down from his St Louis days.

His timing was perfect, his last year in DC was stellar.

Darndest thing, isn't it? Chone Figgins had the best season of his career the year before we signed him. I wonder if we should call it Shaun Alexander Syndrome, where you get a big contract and then immediately cease to be even a decent player.
