Re: 2025 Prospects Thread
The groundball rate isn't ideal but may not be the problem we think it is. For example, if he's making more contact higher in the zone or out of the zone and driving balls into the ground, that's probably more of an approach issue than an issue with the swing. I'm not saying that's the issue. I have no idea. I'm just saying that looking at these numbers in isolation is tricky.D-train wrote: ↑Fri May 23, 2025 7:27 pmInteresting thread on Emerson:

Re: 2025 Prospects Thread
Harry Ford is pretty quietly beginning to solidify himself as an upper echelon C prospect.
Now batting .300/.435/.445 in AAA and gotta love the k/bb discipline where he has 30 walks to 29 k. Done this thru 34g and 160 PA
Ford is in an interesting spot in his development. Now 22 and 2 months into his first AAA season. He's showing he's more than holding his own at that level. But he's also a C first player who is blocked by an MVP candidate who has been in the lineup every day this season.
I think you can give him another month but does he need it? He has shown routinely the coveted ability to GET ON BASE. Is he willing to sprinkle in starts at 1B? Probably not since it hasn't happened yet.
My move would be to call him up now, DH him 4x week, C 2x week. I'd bet most, if not all our pitchers have thrown to him. Cal catches 4x wk, DH 2x, gets a rare off day on occasion. Move Polanco to 3B and send down Williamson. Bat Ford 6/7
As for Garver and Solano, their time is running short. Cole Young should be up in June, too, and I'd cut Solano as the corresponding move. You could always hold onto Williamson as a spot starter at 3b, defensive replacement, and jettison Mastro/Solano.

Sometimes you can shuffle the deck chairs on the ship and it still goes down. BUT...... in this case I totally agree Ford and Young should not do worse than the three deplorables, with at least a 50/50 shot one of Ford/Young gives the team a needed boost!!
Re: 2025 Prospects Thread
I could agree with the Ford and Young moves because they are red-hot and that confidence can be carried up sometimes: Marlow in years gone by, Rivas this year, etc.MarinerFan4Life wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 1:59 amSometimes you can shuffle the deck chairs on the ship and it still goes down. An alternative would be to have Harry Ford headline a package to get Washington’s SS CJ Abram’s! He has 38 games played this year with 19 XBH, 9/11 SB and a 155 OPS+ and 3.5 years of club control. I would be willing to push a push a package that is sub-Soto level but still had 3-4 top 100s. Would you be willing to go something like: Ford, Felnin, Farmelo, Sloan, Morales as a package?
Re: 2025 Prospects Thread
I think that specific package is probably giving up too much, but the general idea of Harry Ford+ for a player of that caliber makes quite a bit of sense to me.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 4:00 amI could agree with the Ford and Young moves because they are red-hot and that confidence can be carried up sometimes: Marlow in years gone by, Rivas this year, etc.MarinerFan4Life wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 1:59 amSometimes you can shuffle the deck chairs on the ship and it still goes down. It also wouldn't surprise me if they keep him as Cal's backup next year. It could be that trading him is plan A, if they find the right deal, but keeping him for a year or two as a backup isn't the worst idea in the world either. Cal is going into his age 29 season next year and the years pile up on catchers pretty quickly.

Everett's Jurrangelo Cijntje pitched well in Saturday's start against the Hillsboro Hops:

This poster was socializing instead of paying attention early on but Cijntje threw only righthanded in the fifth and sixth innings, even against lefthanded batters.
Lazaro Montes homered for the third time in five games, a lazer shot just inside the right field foul pole.Lazaro's two previous home runs in Hillsboro cleared the batter's eye in center field.

I thought he was throwing right handed for his starts and Left handed in relief appearances between startsharmony wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 5:13 amEverett's Jurrangelo Cijntje pitched well in Saturday's start against the Hillsboro Hops:

Bregman
So here comes another conversation with Devers. “Significant injury,” manager Alex Cora said between games of Saturday’s doubleheader. “He’s going to be out for a while. Very similar to ’21. So I’m not going to give you a timetable, but hopefully trust in our medical staff, it’s sooner rather than later. But he’s going to be out for a while.”
Re: 2025 Prospects Thread
That is a good line from my perspective because Garver is gone next year, and Young might be a better piece to part with as an MLB ready alternative to replace CJ.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 4:33 amI think that specific package is probably giving up too much, but the general idea of Harry Ford+ for a player of that caliber makes quite a bit of sense to me.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 4:00 amI could agree with the Ford and Young moves because they are red-hot and that confidence can be carried up sometimes: Marlow in years gone by, Rivas this year, etc.MarinerFan4Life wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 1:59 amSometimes you can shuffle the deck chairs on the ship and it still goes down.
