Favorite M on current roster

Post by Big_Maple » Thu May 29, 2025 12:43 am

There’s been ups and downs so far this season, but I’ve actually been impressed. The M’s are scrappy, they’re showing plate discipline, they’re playing some fundamental baseball, and they’re doing all of this with half their stud rotation on the IL.

I’m curious if anyone has a position player favorite right now - the kind of dude you’d shell out $300 bucks for a jersey kind of guy.

Tipping my hand, but I’m all in on Raleigh. That guy is playing the toughest position and he’s a switch hitter who just keeps hitting bombs. I’d get a Big Dumper jersey - only my second after Ichiro….that’s how nuts I am for Cal.

Anyone else?

Cal is the real deal.
He expressed his concern with management once and I dig that.
Then he showed how much he loves the team and the city and signed a big boy contract.
He then put his money where his mouth is and plays with heart every night.
Great catcher.
Productive hitter.
Clubhouse leader.
Steps up in big moments including the playoffs.
I would argue he should be the team captain on the Mariners.

Now we just need to clone him and put him in right field and 1st base and make a run at this thing. :D

At the risk of being a contrarian, I kinda like Dylan Moore. He isn't a star, but his defense is pretty good and he does occasionally get a hit that makes a difference in winning a game.

Good choice.

I don’t know how you can say anyone other than cal. Best catcher in baseball.
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo

Best current Mariner is Cal, but that's different than "favorite" for me. Julio's my favorite.

I like Cal for his humility and Woo for being a great high IQ pitcher.

Woo has a strategy that a guy like Logan Gilbert could learn a lot from.

Logan Gilberts numbers were surprising when I saw them. A 2.37 ERA, very impressive!

What was more surprising was seeing that somehow he has:
25.2 IP at Home this season (2.10 ERA)
4.2 IP Away this season. (3.86 ERA)

Contrast that with Bryan Woo who also has a 2.40 ERA (before tonights game), but has pitched (also before tonight):
19.1 IP at Home (0.93 ERA)
44.1 IP Away (3.05 ERA)

I'm guessing we're about to start hearing a lot from Jerry about how our biggest trade deadline moves will be getting Raley and Robles back at some point...

That's hilarious I just mentioned that in another thread. I hope it's not true, but it probably will be.
