They are VERY extreme. The Oriholes broadcast team posted Gilbert's opposing batting averages going up about 100 points each trip through the order. Jim Palmer was sitting there totally flabbergasted. I looked up Palmer's career splits, and from the 1st through 4th times through the order opponents' batting averages were .226/.219/.227/.256Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 6:27 pmSomebody (David Gee?) posted some numbers on that. They seemed extreme but i don't have numbers for other ToR pitchers so i could be wrong on that.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 5:22 pmdo you have numbers for that? I am going to guess his numbers are similar to other quality pitchersSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 4:46 pmThe disparity between his effectiveness the 1st time through a lineup and the 3rd time is (or was prior to yesterday) more pronounced than you would expect from a quality starting pitcher.
But on the bright side, Gilbert managed to level things out quite a bit yesterday.
