Teams know when they're in a spoiler role. I get what he's saying, though. It will possibly will be a tougher matchup if both teams are still in it.

I'm not scoreboard watching too heavy just yet. Need the Ms to keep rolling for a while and then kind of see where the dust settles for the home stretch.
I would rather neither of them were still in it

36 games remaining in the season.

Call a team meeting Dan.
Do whatever you have to do to motivate these dudes.

They are sucking it badly on the road.
We have to go like 20-16 or so to make the playoffs.

GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER!

This would be an EPIC FAILURE with the talent on this roster NOT TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. Just saying.

Might be the only chance to get rid of him.

Zero chance. No way they hire him, without even interviewing anyone else, then fire him in a year...admitting they fucked up. Not Dippotto. They sell tickets and are competing for a playoff spot. Dan aint going anywhere.

Dan will get 5 years minimum. He has too much history with the organization for a quick exit.

Truthfully, the manager doesn't account for much. They can hold a team meeting and scream at the players like Lou Piniella or Tommy Lasorda or something, but the players are all trying to perform anyway, because it's such high stakes with the $$$.

Often times the manager is let go when the team underperforms, but it's mostly just PR. It ain't rocket science to fill out a lineup card or manage the pitching.

I will take Wilson over Servais.

So far I like Wilson. When the team plays like shit, you wonder if he doesn't have what it takes to light a fire. But, you don't need Dan to light a fire. That's what Robles is for!

their chances to make the post season today stand at about 80%, for them to miss it would be a pretty big collapse. They would need something to point to, who knows.
