Probably because Servais's teams did the same cock sucking shit down the stretch and they were hoping Wilson or anyone else who make a difference?
Yea, they probably paying Wilson less
Dan made $30M as a player. This is his early retirement Uber driving gig.
Some managers are getting paid these days, getting up $7-8 mil a season. I hadn't realized that. Servais must have gotten his pay grade up a bit. Start the clock again with another rookie hire. Really can see as a money saving move as much as anything

I don't think anyone Dipoto would approve of would really be much different than Servais/Wilson.

The only advantage of firing managers, coaches, trainers and/or ball boys is to send a message to the players on the team:
"You guys suck and thanks to your suckiness, your pals Dan and Kevin and your favorite ball boy are out of work... Because you all suck."

Rangers won and they have no threat really in thier offense but Boone has been coaching them right scoring a ton lately. Thier manager could make us look good sucks we have not had one since Pinella

Bob Melvin and Mike Hargrove were decent managers. They fired Melvin the year after Edgar, Boone, Olerud, and Freddie had retired and the team had very little talent left. Hargrove had the team playing at a high level in 2007 but he and Ichiro didn't get along and the owners chose Ichiro. I thought Wakamatsu and Wedge were decent managers as well. Hard to win with shit rosters.

Dan Wilson is another Wills, Snyder, Riggleman interim manager type with no future after his stint with the Mariners ends.

i think the players fired Wakamatsu because of his run in with junior, i think he lost the clubhouse

Scott Servais was not a good manager. He managed 1 team to the playoffs in a decade.

Idk why that loser's name has to get brought up anymore.

Dan might not be the solution. But that doesn't make Servais anything worth mentioning.

The guy sucked.

Oh, and as for flacid, limp managers that you love so much Donn...

Please see Pat Murphy:

“Every team that I've been a part of takes on the personality of the manager,” general manager Matt Arnold said. “Murph is certainly fiery, and I think you see that with how many times we’ve cleared benches this year [laughs]. He's a competitor at heart; that's his brand. That’s infused into our clubhouse and how we play the game.”

The guy only has about a .610 winning % with a budget squad.

I bet you this guy would rip little girls like Julio a new asshole. And you say Pinella types are dead.

I wasn't a particular fan of SS but I think i would take him over Wilson at this point, and that is probably because of his actual experience which came from the mariners allowing him to manage all those years. Okay replace him but all i see now is just starting the process over again. Now its about putting up with wilson's inexperience like we did with SS. I hadn't thought about it before but I can see an economic angle to it. Its promoted here that dipoto chooses his managers because of being yes men. That would be the reason to choose a rookie over a veteran. I wonder if its the economics of it, a veteran manager costs more than a rookie manager.

Murphy is an interesting guy, see the deal about him carrying pancakes in his pockets, eats them during the game. He pulled one out while being interviewed and munched on it.

I don't buy that being demonstrative makes you more competitive. Joe Torre wasn't much for emotional outbursts but he was considered a pretty good manager.
