Kirby vs Houser G.T. 9/3/25
Kirby vs Houser G.T. 9/3/25
The Mariners need to start winning a few games before they squander away the 3rd wild card spot.

Houser has a sparkling 2.88 ERA despite a horrible 1.33 WHIP. This is a guy who (for this year anyway) isn't giving up an avalanche of home runs and other big hits, is pitching his way out of jams, and/or is getting help from the bullpen in not letting inherited runners score. It would be nice if one of our pitchers was like that.

I looked up the game in Seattle from a few weeks ago that Houser pitched and it was one of those Mariner specials where they jumped all over the SP in the first inning then couldn't do jack against him until he was taken out due to high pitch count after 5 innings.
1st inning: 4 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks
2nd through 5th innings: 0 runs on 2 hits and 0 walks

I wonder if today is the day they will use Harry Ford
At first I was annoyed they would call him up and not let him play for 2 games but it may not be a bad idea. Give him a couple games to get acclimated to the Big Leagues and how it works before throwing him into the fire.

Good thing Garver keeps getting chances. Just send Ford back down then.

It is pretty surprising how bad the back half of most rosters are.
I dont know if it was covid, or if its that teams have started bringing up young players to fill out the roster instead of overpaying aging veterans.

Just keep on going with the same lineup that has been failing over and over Jerry you stubborn asshole. Anyone else would have moved Raleigh back to 3 or 4 and put JP (or Rivas) back at leadoff not to mention giving Ford a shot.

Since 8/20...
Cole Young is rocking -0.4 fWAR and a -13 wRC+
JP Crawford... -0.1 fWAR and a 60 wRC+
Luke Raley... -0.2 fWAR and a -14 wRC+
Dom Canzone... -0.1 fWAR and a 35 wRC+
Mitch Garver... -0.1 fWAR and a 45 wRC+
So basically 7-9 has been a massive black hole for the past 2 weeks. It's no wonder we've sucked.
