Speaking of the HOF, I read that MLB has decided that being declared "permanently" ineligible ends at death. This means Shoeless Joe (and eventually Pete Rose) should be eligible for the Hall. I don't have a problem with this as long as the suspension is mentioned on the plaque and not glossed over, but that is just my opinion. Thoughts?

Somebody brought this up months before and I submitted my responses, been looking for the original post to no avail.

Jeter and Sheffield, definitely. Walker a no, the Coors effect.

Schilling because of his great playoff record.
Yep thought I would revisit given the results are next week. Check out Walker's road numbers. Not bad.

I wonder if Pete Rose will fake his own death.

Maybe, At the very least, he'll start autographing baseballs with "Pete Rose- Future Hall of Famer, but hopefully not too soon" :D

Only hit .278 on the road, numbers skyrocketed after leaving Montreal.

I also pick Pete Rose.

One of the Greatest Competitors of All Time.

The Geezer Selection.

To those that think it was just Coors that popped Walker's Numbers....he did have some really nice years in Montreal...not really a hitters park. Plus his numbers should have gone up in his age 27+ seasons

For me Walker and Schilling are my only nominees this time around

Coors field seems to be hurting his chances beyond its actual impact
Now is about the time people bring up Walker playing home games in Coors Field since he spent a big portion of his career with the Rockies. First off, nearly all players hit worse on the road. In Walker's career, he hit .282/.372/.501 away from Coors Field. Did you know Dave Winfield hit .283/.353/.475 in his entire career?

Further, OPS+ factors in ballpark and era conditions. Adjusting for ballpark and league hitting averages, Walker posted a 141 OPS+ through his career, meaning he was 41 percent better than the average hitter. Vladimir Guerrero was 140 in his career. Reggie Jackson? 139. Al Kaline and Paul Waner were at 134 with Tony Gwynn at 132. Winfield and Roberto Clemente both finished with a 130 OPS+. This isn't to say Walker was a better player than these Hall of Fame right fielders. It is to say dismissing him as a Coors Creation is foolish.

Whatever. This thread is about who should be in the HOF.
you posted the article, thought it was funny, he begins the article by bringing up how he has written a book about Bonds, but then later claims he isn't trying to sell them...ok

I wouldn’t bet against it.
