Miller posted a -.8 WAR last year. Obviously that was an injury plagued down year and you would expect him to do much better this year but my thought is if you were able to win the division with that kind of performance from him last year, you can probably afford to cobble together the fifth spot in the rotation and not expect much overall drop off from last years overall pitching staff performance.
Or what could your team accomplish with a healthy Miller!!! :D

Yeah that's the tradeoff. Whats more valuable to the team, a Way above average 5th starter or another bat? I think I'd lean toward a bat but its not that cut and dry. If we didn't have Sloan and Anderson on the horizon I'd probably be thinking differently.

Link to the Rule V draft. If we take somebody I will start a thread on the guy. Hopefully we take a catcher which will mean we are out on Garver.

The Mariners passed. Susac was taken with the 4th pick by the Twins.

Despite a quiet set of winter meetings, the M's are "not done yet". They are still holiday shopping - "The Mariners are still in the market for an impact infield bat, another proven reliever and backup catcher(s)."

https://www.mlb.com/news/jerry-dipoto-m ... r-meetings

I love these pointless press releases. Announcing you need an 'impact infield bat and a proven reliever' is like a fire department issuing a press release stating, 'We are still in the market for water and hoses that do not leak. We believe these acquisitions will have an impact on the quantity of fire.'

This not news; it's a profound, depressing articulation of our current inadequacy.
