ye old bounce back candidate

No idea why we would waste a second or a single dollar on a 36 yo reliever that had a 4.75 ERA last season in a tank year but whatever.

Agreed. In a season where they are basically evaluating who's going to be part of the "core" going forward, why wouldn't they just throw out a bunch of younger guys and let them sink or swim. I think signing Hirano could be for 2 things- 1. provide a veteran leader for the younger player and/or 2. Help Kikuchi.

Good call on the latter. Can't imagine the former.saintevil wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 5:59 pmAgreed. I wonder how exactly is he going to "help" Kikuchi? Are they going to do the snatch-the-pebble trick from Kung Fu? I just don't get that logic. Do they figure Kikuchi is lonely, and having another Japanese pitcher to talk to will make him better?saintevil wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 5:59 pmAgreed. Yeah but we already had our quota of one. Maybe this will allow them to can KK's interpreter and save a few beans that way.
