A potential trade target for the M's

Case in point... Schmitt's OPS has dropped 40 points in the last 2 days after an 0-9 run... while Canzone's has risen some 40 points. They're now essentially even.

Early season stats are great. I saw Julio's slugging dropped nearly 50 points after a rough past 3 days before the homer he hit.

Which leads us to another thing: Schmitt hasn't had a stellar career to this point, and what if the first 1/3 of this season is a fluke? It's very possible that if we obtained him, he might (as way too many do) put on the Mariner uniform and instantly suck, especially being a right-handed hitter. Admittedly, I hadn't thought of this possibility but now that I have, he might not be a guy we want to go after.

Kind of Like Naylor's last third of the year in 2025. He was about 70 points over his career OPS for the M's last year. Not surprised to see his regression. I really wished they had gone a different direction.

And who would the alternative be. A trade of Willson Contreras or signing Murakami.

Schmitt would be a nice pickup, except that the emergence of Emerson is already going to push Donovan toward being a utility player, and neither they, JP, or Young are going anywhere anytime soon.

Yeah was going to say we don't have room at all this season assuming Donovan isn't permanently disabled from playing baseball like Evan White but if they can somehow make it work, then he would be a great fit next season with Donovan in LF.
