At this point, the offense seems to spiraling downward. Is this the managers fault? Are the hitters pressing because of Dan Wilson? Would replacing Wilson light a fire and lead to better results? If the answer to any of these is yes, I'd say let's replace him -- with someone in an interim capacity -- right now. Then do a real search for a permanent guy this winter.
You don't know until you try.
The Boston Red Sox had a 10–17 record under manager Alex Cora in 2026 before he was fired on April 25. Following his dismissal, the team turned their season around drastically under interim manager Chad Tracy, playing to a 54–36 record.

Pretty much every other franchise in the league would have fired him already. We've never seen a Mariner manager so often make at-the-time bad decisions although as we've talked about ad nauseum he's probably DiPoto's puppet.

It's like your X posts on Garver and Refsnyder yesterday. They keep these guys long after they've expired and look at what happens.
Most might not have hired him, but ALL but us would have at least had an interview process instead of just naming the interim the new manager.

Of course they didn’t fire him. They just picked up some random pitcher. Here comes another sweep in the Bronx.

Now I know why everyone loves Humpy, the team is a lot like him. Can’t win.

Ah, rounding! Perfect.

So if we round up our total World Series appearances in a similar fashion and given how near we got last year, we’ve basically won a Pennant? Cool 8-)

As long as Dipoto is GM, it doesnt matter who the manager is. He's been almost exactly like Servais and there's a reason.

If Dan gets fired they'll bring in another puppet. Probably Dave Valle or Willie Bloomquist.
This is the heart of the issue. Pretty much every move is dictated by the front office before the game even starts. They tell him who to play, where they should hit in the lineup and what pitchers to bring in in what situation. Changing managers wont change a thing. They'll still be running out platoons and using the same analytical playbook to decide what moves to make. Even if the manager had full autonomy, it wouldn't fix the massive holes in this lineup that are the result of the mis-allocation of payroll and poor roster construction. I don't really care one way or the other about Dan. This poll should be about Mr. 54%. By the way, the teams winning percentage since he made that comment is .521 so even by his own standard he is failing.

Whatever it takes!

I used to deal with this phenomen a lot when I was a forecaster.

66.5 = 67

26.5 = 27

7.0 = 7

100 and 101

Even though I say it's pointless to fire Dan, because Jerry would replace him with another impotent puppet, I'm for it just as punishment for the players.

I thought when they fired the assistant hitting coach recently, who was apparently a real pal to the players, they'd see the error of their shitty ways. But, no...

Keep firing coaches. Let the players, who are actually to blame, see how their crappiness actually ruins the careers of their buddy coaches.

ESPN wrote:"The Los Angeles Angels fired pitching coach Mike Maddux and two of his assistants on Tuesday after interim general manager John Mozeliak determined the team wasn't making sufficient use of the technology and analytics available to its pitchers.

Assistant pitching coach Darryl Scott and bullpen coach Dom Chiti were also fired"

What an extraordinary reason to fire someone.
