Most disappointing Mariner team ever. Second most? Maybe the 1996 team that didn't follow up on 1995 but at least was an entertaining team.

To me the most disappointing mariner team ever was the 2001 team that won 116 games, and barely got past the first round of the playoff, then got clobbered by the Yankees.

Honestly, I think that 9/11 just stopped the team's momentum, not to mention the WS pretty much HAD to be in New York after that, it was totally predetermined by fate. If I was Mariner ownership I'd raise a World Championship banner and tell the league screw you, you all know that we would have won if it hadn't been for 9/11.
