A few days ago when Arozarena only advanced from second to third on Canzone's 400 foot double, instead of her usual excuses for poor play Mentink muttered "Not a good read". I wonder if during commercial break she got her ass chewed and told that her job is to wave the teal-and-navy pom-poms.

Not a good read? Can you imagine if that is a Yankee and a New York broadcaster is calling the game? Not a good read is basically excusing his utter fucking laziness as a mistake. With Randy? It's fucking laziness. And he's a douche bag. It's well documented that Cal asked him not to ask for the fist bump. He does it anyway and then goes on a tirade! Someone is going to pay this guy based on what he did in a contract year, and they are going to get a clubhouse cancer that never performs up to that standard again. You know, like our pudgy first baseman now?

If the lock out doesn't result in guaranteed contracts going bye bye? This game will never change.

Sorry, but they are back to the excuses. One of the "reasons" this season sucked is "Lack of Star Power". But was really glossed over what a collosal failure these three have been.

Last season, Raleigh produced 9.1 FanGraphs WAR while Rodriguez had 5.8 and Naylor produced 1.8 in 53 games. This season, Raleigh has produced 1.9 fWAR while Rodriguez has 2.5 and Naylor at 0.9.

That’s a significant drop-off.

SIGNIFICANT!? You fucking think so? Raleigh dropped off 7.2. Rodriguez decided it wasn't enough just to start slow, so he just was slow and dropped off 3.3, and I'd assume some of that is because he knows how to stand in CF. And the fact that Naylor is even on the positive side nothing short of a miracle for how shitty he has been. Yep, significant....then basically make more excuses.

Point out that Donovan can't get on the field, but not point out that that is basically his entire career? "Starters Struggled"? Good lord. It was an utter and complete flop of a season. Yes, these are reasons why....but the article is such an utter excuse making pile of shit I can hardly stand it.

They are 53-25 in games when they scored four runs or more — in 2025 they were 73-23. They were held scoreless 14 times this season and six in 2025.

OK, so how about focusing on the fact that they are dogshit hitters and the results have been dogshit? They fall asleep during games, at the plate, in the field and on the base paths. They are utterly unwatchable. But to read this drivel and their five excuses you'd think all they need is a tweak here or there and they'd be killing it!

There was an inconsistency in messaging, whether it was the situation with Arozarena and Raleigh, the piggyback pitching philosophy, hitting philosophy, usage of platoons, bullpen decisions, player injuries and overall strategy.

Yep...complete and utter organizational failure. But you had to read all the way to the end of this garbage to even get to this sentence. I'm not holding my breath for the time the press holds anyone's feet to the fire here in Seattle. My guess is this is a response to them seeming almost critical.

I watch some of the Yankee games and Paul O'Neill would not be making excuses for the player. The Red Sox broadcasters are like that too, a few years ago when Aroldis Chapman was pitching for the Yankees he failed to back up home plate and the Sox guys just let him have it. An opposing player! It was awesome.
