I don't even know what to make of this information on Volpe other than its deflated my excitement towards the upcoming draft if he is indeed the pick.

Re: Anthony Volpe?????
Needs to be pitching. Right now 4 names come to mind.
1. Alek Manoah, WVU
2. Jackson Rutledge San Jacinto JC
3. George Kirby, Elon
4. Matthew Allan, (HS)
Don't need a projected reliever need a starter.

Re: Anthony Volpe?????
Non-elite pitchers fail at too high of a rate to waste a first round pick on, imo.

I don't know about him but I looked up some of the prospect stuff and his bat speed had like 26th percentile in his class. The LL had him as 4th best bat and 2 best defender which sounds great until you read great baseball IQ weak arm. I really don't know how much stock to put into public sites scouting reports but eh.D-train wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2019 2:57 pmWhy?Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2019 6:21 amhttps://www.perfectgame.org/articles/Vi ... icle=16353

I guess unless Seattle plans to punt on the pick. I've heard rumors that this is a weak Draft crop compared with next years class. The way it's looking, were shaping up to draft in the Top 10 most likely.

It's what some have suggested to acquire more bonus money for next season. It was in an LL article. I believe Volpe's signability was for $3 million from Vanderbilt.

Volpe was listed, along with teammate Jack Leiter (Al’s son), as a signability challenge. Reportedly Volpe is looking for at least $3 million to break his commitment to Vanderbilt, and might have a shortlist of teams he’d even be willing to consider, said to be heavy on teams near his New Jersey hometown.
