MLB 154 game proposal
MLB 154 game proposal
Also proposed increasing the divisional series to 7 games which is fine but why in the hell would you leave the WC series at 3 with the absurd set up of not letting the lower seed have a single home game.
With 8 fewer games they can make it 5, 7, 7, 7 but if you are only going to lengthen one of the 2 make it 5, 5, 7, 7 instead of 3, 7, 7, 7
Common fucking sense.
Letting the higher seed pick their opponent is a goofy gimmick will lead to a bunch of smack talk BS. Lame AF.

How about shorten games to 8 innings as well. And two strikes your out. 100 feet between bases.
Re: MLB 154 game proposal
I've thought for years that 162 games was pretty dumb. It makes a bit more sense now with the expanded postseason keeping more teams in the race, but I doubt anyone will miss those 8 games.

It's a good number if you like larger primes such as 7 and 11 as opposed to powers of 3.
What's in it for the fans? Instead of ending the season earlier they'll probably make if so there's one off-day per week.

One off day per week would be great for the players.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2026 7:39 pmIt's a good number if you like larger primes such as 7 and 11 as opposed to powers of 3.

Re: MLB 154 game proposal
The issue with the WC series is the top two division winners aren't playing. 5 games with a travel day is a long time to keep the top 2 seeds waiting before they play. 3 quick games with no off day seems to be centered around that aspect.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2026 6:42 pmAlso proposed increasing the divisional series to 7 games which is fine but why in the hell would you leave the WC series at 3 with the absurd set up of not letting the lower seed have a single home game.

154 with an off day each week might change the way teams are run. It might improve the quality of the games. But, I don't feel like 162 is too many. It's baseball. You can play every day.
3, 7, 7, 7 is a bit weird, though, as is 3, 5, 7, 7. It kind of works, but in the old days if you won your division you were automatically in a 5 game division series. Now, you can win your division and still not make the divisional series.
Choosing your own opponent is definitely gimmicky.
While I was writing this the idea popped into my head that they could make the WC work as a 5 game series by playing double-headers.
But, overall I think the old system with two WC teams was better. They could've given them a 3 game series without adding the third WC team and demoting a division winner to WC status.

Hey where have you been??? Haven't seen you since they missed the playoffs after starting 4-9. Fucking crazy how that works out isn't it???DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2026 4:14 amThe issue with the WC series is the top two division winners aren't playing.

Good points. I agree with all of that. Of course with a double header, they would make everyone leave and have to return to double the attendance revenue and the players union would respond that players should be paid triple for gulag like work conditions.....DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2026 4:14 amThe issue with the WC series is the top two division winners aren't playing.
