That'd be the biggest blockbuster this team has ever made. Giving up young pitching. Not without inking him to a nice extension. That's what ya'll are missing. Not giving up that kind of capital for someone who's just gonna leave in 3 years. Hard no with Sloan. Shit give them Hancock & Kirby for all I care.
I think that obviously depends on how secure Dipoto feels in his job.

Maybe he swings for some big trades this off season knowing he has to win.

If he's gone, do you think he cares that he traded a prospect for 3 years of an All Star player?

Exactly. And no guarantee with prospects. Kade had the best minor league season of all time and look meh for the most part. Sloan has been good not great. Could be an Ace. Could be a bust. Could need TJ surgery by mid next season...

"Oh my God, we can't be trading prospects! What if they end up being good for someone else!"

We all know that if Jerry hasn't uttered these exact words, he's at least thought them...

Just goes to show DT has the biggest set of balls here. Not afraid of the big move.

I'll give up Miller, Woo & Hancock before I give up Sloan. Nothing is a sure thing but the more you look at that kid. Damn

EDLC would be a huge get.

He adds one more Air Craft Carrier to the mix. IT looks like he has been league leader in errors for 2 years and Randy was mention as kind of a clown show out there for stretches. But Elly’s range, and arm would far outclass what we got from JP the last few years.

Otto Lopez had his 1st + season with the bat 122 OPS+ so that made him a 6.1 player but even if he reverts to a 90-ish OPS+ guy he is a 3.5 WAR for his defense alone.

They did fire the M’s long term defensive coach, but normally I would think Perry Hill would work the fine clay that is possessed by Elly 6’6” guy with elite speed and elite arm talent.

Elly has a whole lot of red marks there. The only things he doesn’t do welll is he whiffs and K’s a lot.

Possibly but you have to give up who the Reds want if you are going to get him.

He would become our only Air Craft Carrier. Our fWAR leader is Canzone at a whopping 2.8 barely above average....

btw Woo was far and away our fWAR leader for pitchers at 4.1. Gilbert was second at 2.9.

But just last year, Cal went on this run in August with an .877 OPS. He had 34 HRs in 2024 annd the 60 in 2026 even Air Craft Carriers need maintenance. I’d put him in that class

Julio was a guy that you could count on for 5+ISH WAR HE HAD A 130 OPS+ and a max of 6.6 BWAR in 2025 he had repeated 30-30 a couple of times and was a good defender in center. This year 103 OPS+, poor defender, but he was 22/25 in SB his best year as a %. I’d call a 2.8 BWAR 2026 a wake up call.

I am calling out 2026 as a fluke year of injuries, bad luck, and a shit snow ball of shit that just kept on building mass and momentum that crushed everything in its path. 2026 M’s.
