This is why I am totally against these ridiculous 10 year deals. Guys can just check out and get a guaranteed income.

Have to agree.
I think minor leaguers and guys in their first 6 years deserve to make more and geezers deserve way less.

As hated as Soccer is on here they have it right contract wise, MLB needs to start rewarding stellar play and stop these retirement deals.

Great, now I have to look up soccer facts.
As bad as Mariners baseball is, at least it's not soccer.

Once I see the first billionaire Sports owner waiting in line outside of a food bank due to awful contracts I will start giving a rat's ass.

Re: This is One Awful Contract—Miguel Cabrera.
My point wasn't about the owners bank account taking a hit because they will just set a budget and the front office will have to deal with that. It's the fanbase who mostly suffer because management have spent 30 million a year on one guy who is 36 years old and either past it or doesn't really care.
It's ridiculous that the CY young winner is making 1 million this year in his prime and Cabrera will be making 30 million aged 41.

Oh I know it's just that sometimes people act like the owners are unable to pay more or they were somehow tricked into the big contracts. Curious how they reward soccer players is it just based on goals and assist or is there other stats that I don't know about.
Maybe it's based on subjective measures?

You know what would be awesome is to take Today's total payroll and divide it by Total War of all players and then pay each player that amount per war. Then increase total payroll by 3% per year. Anything less than one War gets the major league minimum.

No, you just never often get a contract more than 4 years in European soccer. Much more incentive to earn your money with that. They are also heavily performance laden yes.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 4:48 pmOh I know it's just that sometimes people act like the owners are unable to pay more or they were somehow tricked into the big contracts. Here’s another Crap contract, Jordan Zimmerman, in 4th of a 5 yr contract, $110 mil!
He’s 1-11 with a 6.32 ERA, prior 3 years were poor.
Owed $25 mil next year.
