was gonna post that i read Cashman liked him, interesting they actually did it...
I mean Volpe is a decent prospect, I just dont have him going until the Mid 2nd rd. There are a bunch of players that you could select before going Volpe. He might have fallen into the 3rd rd. He has a $3 million tag to break his commitment to Vanderbilt.
Probably just to prevent Seattle from getting him. Draft block strategy.

Our Nope to Volpe campaign worked. Which means either he'll be an All-Star for NY or M's will get fleeced in a trade for him down the road.
Seattle was very high on him too, as most of us already knew. I just wasn't after scouting him. Last year Kelenic was #1 on my Big Board, this year it was 1. Ruschtman, 2. Vaughn, and 3. Kirby. I loved Kirby's '"Control the Zone" mentality, and Seattle obviously did too!

Actually I might've taken Baty or Josh Jung before Kirby, but I really wanted Seattle to get more pitching! And for me Kirby was my #1 pitcher.

yeah, what do the stupid Astros know
I had to flip through pages before I could find anything on Lee!!!  C Ethan Hearns???!!!!!!

Arizona coming up with back to back picks. Hopefully they announce them both together
he was considered a trouble maker at one point, sounds like a strong personality, defensive catcher, projected round 2-3, interesting pick, will follow that one, thanks for pointing it out

curious where the Yanks took Jeter, they picked him at sixth

there was this in the wiki
The Houston Astros held the first overall pick in the 1992 MLB draft. Hall of Fame pitcher Hal Newhouser, who worked for the Astros as a scout, evaluated Jeter extensively and lobbied team management to select him.[16] Fearing Jeter would insist on a salary bonus of at least $1 million to forgo college for a professional contract,[16] they chose Cal State Fullerton outfielder Phil Nevin, who signed for $700,000.[16] Newhouser felt so strongly about Jeter's potential that he quit his job with the Astros in protest after they ignored his drafting advice

The guy pitching right now was their second round pick two years ago. Our second round pick from two years ago has pitched 3 professional innings.

Drey Jameson little bit of a reach. But if they liked the kid, he's not bad.

M's slot value for their 2nd round pick (#59) is $1,185,500 and the competitive balance pick they got from Cleveland at the end of the 2nd round (#76) is $818,200.

I hope we grab more pitching. You can never have enough arms.

Misner just went to Miami! Dang. Knew he wouldn't last though. Griffey Jr. was impressed and did a personal interview about how much he loves this kid!
