I'll go with 55 wins more or less following Maoling's approach but applying the .288 winning percentage to the remaining games. If I did my math right, I end up with 55. The question of just how low can this team go is kind of moot. BUT, they may go down as one of the worst in the modern era since teams have been playing 162 games regardless of their final number of wins. The pitchng+defense is arguably the worst the modern era has ever seen. I keep bringing up how many games the oppoents have scored more than 10 runs for perspective. My guess is this team will shatter the MLB record for that arbitrary milestone. Last night was the 17th time the club has let the opponent post 10 or more. This is already more times than the Astros posted in any of their three 100 loss rebuild seasons. The M's are now on pace to let opponents score 10 or more 37 times. The 2003 Detroit Tigers and the 1962 Mets only let oppoents do this 21 times. The Astroknott wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 2:55 pmYour 52 wins takes us out of the top ten tanking teams in mlb history. We can easily lose 110 games this year
I had us at 69 wins before the season started at the old forum and it looked really stupid after the hot start. Now it’s a fairly positive forecast
Anyway, it doesn't really matter. No matter what anybody wants to believe or call it, the organaization is in full complete utter burn it to ashes rebuild. Like Maoling, I stopped watching awhile ago. I'll keep my eye on the box scores but that's about it. After the trading deadline things might get more interesting as more players get their full cup of coffee in the bigs but as long as dfa'd journeymen get pulled in to tread water it ain't worth looking at.
