Omar Narvaez is three for three with a double, now .299 / .389 / .485.

Meanwhile, the Rays game in Baltimore is postponed due to rain. Mike Zunino will not get his chance to get above
the Mendoza line today - .198 / .226 / .395.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

Great start Swanson. No idea why he wasn't throwing a changeup in his first few starts.
Coaching?

Six innings, 106 pitches, 63 strikes. His 59% strikes worked today but in the future 65% plus would be better. Still, cannot argue with the results.
I wasn't able to watch the game. So, when he threw strikes, were hitters swinging and missing or fouling them off much, or were they putting the ball in play? Also, how often was he working behind in the count?

He had a lot of 6-8 pitch AB's... his secondary stuff doesn't let him put people away.

He also started a lot of counts 2-0 and battled back to make it 2-2 or 3-2 and got the out.

The Mariners have outscored the Indians 21-18 so far in six games this season but will likely finish with a 1-5 record against the Tribe:

When does the poor pen, poor defense and poor base running bite you in the ass... the close games. Kudos to Swanson today. Hopefully, he can cut down on the walks but otherwise a really solid outing. Bodes well.

That's why run differential is not a solid indicator of winning baseball. People kept arguing that run differential proved the M's were bad last year. I disagree.

If you win 5 of 6 by the score of 2-0 and the one loss is a 10-0 loss. You're 5-1 with a run differential of 0.

One positive when this road trip is done:

Done with the Indians.

Done with the Red Sox.

3 more at home against the Yankees.

Over the course of a season, run differential becomes a better and better indicator of the quality of the team. That's because players who skew the run differential (e.g. horrible starting pitchers) don't hand around very long.
