Joc Pederson .508 OPS and -0.8 WAR Whew.
I thought about including him as I know we were clamoring for him in the past, but did anybody do so this past offseason? I don't remember seeing anyone posting his name.

Wow...his OPS has dropped 399 points from 2024. He's been out since late May after getting hit on the hand by a pitch but will be back at the end of July. Whatever the OPS single-season drop-off record is, he has a great shot at breaking it.

I advocated for the Castillo-for-Casas-and-Yoshida trade  . I still wouldn't mind having those two players, just not this year.

I might have found the record for the biggest OPS drop-off: Rogers Hornsby from 1925 to 1926, 394 points from 1.245 to .851.

Kolton Wong. 770 to 468. Only 302 points but a 39% drop off. Really should you % vs. absolute value

I would, but that's a much harder thing to research as you have to look up players who didn't put up big numbers, and that's a BIG haystack.

By the way, you know who I think had the biggest drop-off in OPS between the first half and the second half of a season? Roy Hobbs. 😄

Since 5/1, Bohm has been worth 1.8 fWAR and a 127 wRC+.

He had a bad April, but we could have really used his last 3 months.

Christian Walker, ops+ last four years 125, 122, 120, 83
I warned about him. Right that age that hitters implode in this pitching environment.
sure, but I don't understand why a few months of aging would lead to a sudden huge drop in performance.

Drop offs happen as players hit their mid 30's.

I went back and looked at my off season plans.

They mostly centered around landing Luis Robert, Brandon Lowe, Alec Bohm and Yoan Moncada.

2ish of those would have been pretty nice.

Eventually there's a line you reach and apparently he crossed it.
