Jerry sets the stage for not doing shit
Re: Jerry sets the stage for not doing shit
I think It's more about what Jerry didn't say. Many of the playoff contenders have better players at our "coming along" positions than we do. I'm sure he also doesn't like, and I actually agree with him, that most available guys who can help us are rentals and the leverage is with the sellers with so many potential buyers.

I loved seeing Robles on the field playing catch yesterday. According to what Jen Mueller reported he is about 75%. Seems like that certainly gets him back before September, but what do I know.

As I understand it, the shoulder is healed, the situation now is building strength and conditioning but they haven't at this point moved up his anticipated return, they are sticking with September at least to the publicAlvinDavisFan21 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 19, 2025 4:11 pmI loved seeing Robles on the field playing catch yesterday. When you have a 3B with a 600 OPS and Solano and DMo in the lineup vs. LH starters there is plenty of room for upgrades.Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Sat Jul 19, 2025 4:01 amHow is it 54 percent in action?
Is he not wrong about the lineup being extremely well rounded right now? And what do you expect him to say? He's hyping up the rookie 3b, he's not going to come out and say "yeah, we really need to get better at 3b because Williamson is just not good enough"
Actions speak loudest. They are targeting 1b and 3b. That is everywhere. So stop criticizing his interviews and wait and see what happens.
I'd like to see them add a starter on a rental or 2026 FA. I think miller is cooked and we clearly need someone besides Evans. The offense looks legit. I'm not going to be mad if Geno comes back with little parted with (Morales or Peete and a few 20-30s tossed in?).

At least 4 teams interested in Geno. You are not getting him for freaking Tai Peete or Morales and a couple of scrubs..

I am sure we can find four games we should have lost that we won as well.
That's baseball as they same.

Geno is obviously a rental but you are not getting a top 10 hitter on a cheap offer when at least 3 other teams are desperate for a 3B. At a minimum you need to offer more than what the D Backs would get as compensation of a QO.Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Sat Jul 19, 2025 2:24 pmMore? This team has 4 All-Stars. It's coming off a month in which it delivered the best offensive production in all of baseball and now the pitching is rounding into form. It's nice to be greedy but it's also a sin. I wouldn't complain about a Geno add on a cheap offer, or an SP add for a reasonable price, but I'd also be more than fine with standing pat. This team is hitting its stride and you don't need to mess with it. Plenty of reinforcements in the minors with Rivas, Taylor, Lao, Kowar and Locklear. Plus Robles nearing his return in about 5 weeksLamda wrote: ↑Sat Jul 19, 2025 5:36 amlol - that happens only if Dip allows himself to be bent over. If the AZ GM is smart - he takes the next 12-13 days to pit us/skanks/anyone who needs a 3B against each other to get the best package he can for him. It's not as though its a fire sale and whomever suggests a decent deal will get it done in the next day or so.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Jul 19, 2025 4:59 amIf they don't land Geno it's about this biggest failure of all time.
AZ told teams he's available today. He needs to be an M by the end of this Astros series.
Geno is a good add but if this team wants to win they need more than that.

I saw a Hancock, Locklear, Peete offer today. That's similar to what I was going to offer in a next plan.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Jul 19, 2025 5:02 pmGeno is obviously a rental but you are not getting a top 10 hitter on a cheap offer when at least 3 other teams are desperate for a 3B. I think that's pretty good comp. Gives them a no. 5, a former top 100 1B who is having a good year to replace Naylor, and a wildcard athlete in Peete. Both Peete and Locklear are 10-15 prospects in a good M's system.

So we have to wait until he's 28 for his bat to be near league average?
