Read rumors that the Braves would listen to offers on Ozzie Albies, but not till the offseason.

This is useless info for 2 reasons: first, it’s a rumor which is about as reliable as a hunch of oldies in a beauty parlor sitting under hair dryers, gossiping. Second, it’s not going to happen until the offseason, if it happens at all.

Still, if true he’d be a good, affordable get for the M’s at the keystone for 2 more years.

There’s the ever persistent rumor that the M’s could make a deal for Acuna. There’s a better chance that monkeys could fly out of my ass, but it’s been tossed around for a few weeks now.

Apart from the names you mentioned - maybe Ryan McMahon is a trade target? He’s having a down season so I don’t know why we would want him, but I’ve heard his name floated.

For me, I’m for making a big splash and trading prospects. Prospects are just prospects and I’d rather go for proven talent then wait and see if the prospects work out or flame out. The only prospect I’d hate to see traded would be Lázaro Montes.
Careful what you wish for

AZ - Naylor, Suarez, Grichuk

MIA - Maybe Jesus Sanchez?

ATL - Ozuna

Nationals - Lowe, Rosario, Maybe Luis Garcia Jr?

Pirates - Hayes, Kiner-Falefa, Maybe Reynolds or McCutchen?

Colorado - Maybe McMahon or Estrada?

Angels - Moncada, Ward

Guardians - Maybe Kwan or Santana as a platoon 1B?

Twins - Bader, Castro, Maybe Royce Lewis on a flier?

Royals - Pasquantino

Orioles - Mullins, Laureano, O'Hearn and maybe Mountcastle or Urias if you're desperate

A's - I've seen Soderstrom thrown around. I do wonder if they'll listen on Rooker given how bad they are. Probably not though.

White Sox - Robert Jr, Benintendi if they eat a lot of $$, Tauchman, Slater

Hayes is an interesting one. He's far and away the best defensive 3B in baseball. A former top-5 prospect, he's been a 4ish WAR player when he amounts to a league-average bat... teams probably feel they can get him there.

Why do we get such a hard on for making trades at the deadline? Quite frankly I see a team that is finally playing up to its talent level and has a fully stocked minor league system with a few guys -- Ford, Locklear, Montes, Arroyo -- who are either a) knocking on the door or b) walking up the driveway.

You've got relief talent, too, that you can dip into. Jackson Kowar, Sauryn Lao, Troy Taylor, Brandyn Garcia.

The one thing this team needs is a reliable No. 5 starter. That's what I'd be looking at.

Fuck, Idk why everyone around this fanbase is still looking at offense.

Yeah, don't improve your offense while other teams around you make moves to get better.

Great strategy. Has worked out so well for us in the past.

Maybe it's because they don't have the best offense in the game over the last 45 days? MAybe they all need to improve their weak ass offenses?

And this isn't years past. This is a different team. Why do we have to envoke the past? It means jack shit to this 2025 club.

We need a No. 5 so we're not giving away a game every 5 days.

Please find me a team in true contention that didn't try to upgrade their offense other than the Seattle M's.

Any team.

Aside from Geno, who sadly is going to cost more than he's worth, I think Cruz would be someone I'd be fine spending prospect capital on - he and Acuna. If u could somehow put together a package that made 1 of those teams think about it - would be worth it. Seems like we may just go with Geno and some bullpen arms and hope for the best.

You say that like it’s underwhelming. Geno is having a Cal Raleigh season.

Geno and 2x bullpen arms would be a hell of a deadline.
