The FO tried to trade Ford for Duran at the AS break lol.
Obviously that failed. JP Crawford is our starting Shortstop in 2026. But if the Rangers offered Corey Seager for JP, then that would contradict what the front office announced. Everything is fluid when it comes to roster constructing.
It didn't contradict anything lol.

It doesn't help anyone to publicly announce that they're trying to move Ford. Diminishes his value.

Maintaining that you see him as a valid option alongside Cal keeps his value up. According to Divish, they've been trying to move him for a while.
Agree 100%. And this is the first I've heard of them trying to move him. I trust Divish. Is he just now announcing this? I mean if so, congrats to the M's for keeping it hush-hush.

He said the M's engaged in trade talks for Ford last off season and also at the break for Duran.

More recently he talked about the Ford for Duran trade on LO Mariners and last off season on the Puck Show.

Of note, Ferrer did not like pitching in Washington.

He had a home ERA of 6.82 and a road ERA of 2.57. That bodes really well coming to T-Mobile.

He also pitched a lot better in the 2nd half.

Varitek for Slocumb Redux?
If Slocumb threw 100 from the left side, wasn't coming off a 5.17 ERA season, and wasn't a 6-year vet with no control.
4.48 is pretty close to 5.17. Everybody's getting excited about him but we also traded for Gregory Santos and Caleb Ferguson didn't we. He doesn't even have a k rate over 9 so that 100 mph must be pretty hittable

Cool thanks. Good to know. Love little tidbits like these.

People are saying he's a high leverage Elite reliever just like rash and munoz. If Brash and Munoz had an era of over four and a half would we be calling them Elite

Yeah, I'm wondering that too DT. Although Sewald, Speier, and Bazardo all came here with ERA's north of 4.00

I think the home/road splits are very telling. He couldn't pitch in DC.

Mid 2's ERA on the road... could be elite in Seattle.

I also think the M's can do some things with his pitch mix that will really help.

Santos was clearly a perennially hurt mental midget and Ferguson was a geezer who had an anomaly first half.

This guy has more talent in his left nut than both the other guys combined.

Beat me to it about Santos.

He went down the drain really quick.

Ford had a solid year in AAA, some power, excellent on base percentage, he even steals, like Naylor.

Only 22, he could’ve backed up Cal for 30 to 40 games, they could’ve alternated between catcher and DH.

So I say it’s a dumb move, unless officials think he’s not very good defensively.

To get rid of him before even giving him a shot to see what he could do, seems crazy.

The big difference is that we got all those guys for nothing off the scrap Heap not giving up a first round pick for him. You guys know that I'm not a big Ford fan but this seems like a pretty major overpay. Seems we could have got a better reliever for him but who knows
