Since there's so much time left between now and the game (2 West coast teams starting at 7:10, sheesh).

The English and French sure made an art of it. The English would "draw and quarter" (see Braveheart) and the French elegantly dispatched of poeple with the guillotine. Then there's North Korea, where you either get tossed into a roomful of hungry dogs, or they tie you to a post and use you for mortar practice.

This is why I love this place - a game thread turns into a death penalty chat,

The UK abolished it back in the 60s. There used to be campaigns to bring it back, but that’s pretty much died out now that you’d have to be in your late 70s to actually remember someone being executed here.

So for what its worth from me,

Why let them off easy? Why would you want a killer to get out of it by being put down? Personally, I'd rather they spend the rest of their days living in absolute fear of the other inmates, just like Ian Huntley—one of our most notorious child killers. This story about what happened to him inside is remarkable. 2005 boiling water thrown on him, 2010 throat slashed, 2017 attacked with razor blade inside toothbrush, 2026 bludgeoned to death with spiked metal bar.

The toll on the families: I would see justice as being done with "Life without parole". Rupe's family themselves say they suffered 20 excruciating years of appeals, hearings, and non-stop media attention, reliving the horrific details every single time. Having to follow and often turn up for those things must be worse than knowing he's locked away as safely as Ian Huntley was forever.

So, erm....... Go M's ? :|
Exactly

The reasons for it are three,

1. Punishment: Life in Prison is far worse
2. Deterrent: Yeah two guys are going to check the state laws before killing someone.
3. Retribution: Yeah like dude said in the article I am so much happier now

I like eye for an eye punishments.

Otherwise, the main reason is cost, imo. These guys cost up to $60,000/yr to hold.

If they want to waste that money, give it to the victims family for the next 20 years instead of housing him, and put that animal down.

In a perfect world I would agree put all the appeals cost way more.
