As in the World Series and the playoffs, great pitching beats great hitting. I'm going with Randy and the Mariners. Without Randy I'm not sure. Whitey Ford was good, but in a Jamie Moyer clever kinda way. Randy, for raw power, takes it.

One thing about the old time teams they did not face the modern specialists, BP guys coming in and throwing 100 105. The old guys did not face the analytics department of modern day players. I know some of those guys were great but Babe Ruth was a 206 OPS+ career, Mike Trout has a 175 OPS+ career and is in the prime right now. Would Babe be able to do what he did then today? He was listed at 6'2" 215# vs Trout 6'2" 235#. I debate these kinds of questions and I could come up with support or deny on both sides. What about you.

Half of the guys who played MLB 30 years ago wouldnt get drafted today.

What?! They didn't put a shift on Babe Ruth?! Unless they shifted the outfield walls back 100 feet.
