I don't take it as an admission of inferiority. I just take it to mean they were willing to cheat to win. They're cheaters. It will be interesting to see how they perform this year. I would love to see them fail miserably, but I think they'll probably still be playing at a high level, probably laser focused to prove everyone that they can win without cheating.

Re: Astros trash can bang charts
Maybe right. But I've got them under a 100 wins.

I wonder how all of the Zips and other projection services are handling it. Guessing they are ignoring it.

It couldn't have been that subtle at field level. I just find it hard to believe that at least a few of those pitchers and catchers didn't put it together.DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 5:35 pmMostly the data shows an increase in bangs as the season went on, so you get the idea that they tried it out and got great results with it. A pitch without a bang is not a pitch where they weren't cheating. I believe a non-bang is a fastball. The timing of the complaints and the punishments has always been strange to me. I don't believe the pitchers and umpires were aware of it at first, though. I believe that I attended games at Minute Maid Park when it was going on and I had no clue as a fan. It was subtle. You had to be listening carefully for it.

Baseball players are notorious for being dullards. Epic hand eye coordination does leave room for much intellect.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 7:10 pmIt couldn't have been that subtle at field level. Danny Farquhar is kind of being credited as one of the first guys to really figure it out.
It was subtle. That's the key here. Really just an ambient sound if you weren't listening for it.
