Yeah, this is a good thread and it is fun watching the ups and downs of these minor leaguers. It's great that high A and triple A are both so close to Seattle.

Well, we haven't had much pitching yet to go on in the minors....
Let's start with our top prospects and where they're at.....
1) Emerson Hancock: Everett Advanced A
2) Logan Gilbert: MLB Debut
3) George Kirby: Everett Advanced A
4) Juan Then: Everett Advanced A
5) Brandon Williamson: Everett Advanced A
6) Connor Phillips: Modesto Low A
7) Isaiah Campbell: Everett Advanced A
8) Levi Stoudt: Everett Advanced A
9) Adam Macko: Modesto Low A
10) Wyatt Mills: Tacoma AAA
11) Ty Adcock: Modesto Low A
12) Sam Delaplane: Tacoma AAA
13) Sam Carlson: Modesto Low A
14) Tim Elliot: Everett Advanced A
15) Logan Rinehart: Unassigned
16) Matt Brash: Everett Advanced A
So 16 of our top thirty prospects are pitchers with half of them at Everett/ Advanced A. Half the remaining 8 are at Modesto... Tacoma has two, one is on the MLB roster (Gilbert) and one is yet to be assigned (Rinehart). I see no premium pitching prospects at AA Arkansas right now. Interesting. Forgetting the ratings, who is off to a good start?
I see nobody at Tacoma off to a good start....unless you are reaching... Vinny Nittoli? Unless you have nothing but time, don't bother ... Tacoma is going to be a way station for the Mariners and they are close at hand and easy to monitor. I do like the fact that most of the minor league teams will be playing 5 game series and then moving on. Seems so smart to me, cuts down on travel trips, each team plays through the other's rotation, cuts costs, and covid exposure... Anyway, here goes... Tacoma is absolutely loaded with insurance, at least 13 pitchers on the staff with major league experience, many still in the beginning stages of their careers.... others with 4-5 years MLB experience, guys like Yohan Ramierez to Roenis Elias, guys from Sam Delaplane to Matt Festa. Youngsters like Joey Gerber and flamethrowers like Domingo Tapia. Whoever is in stroke will be the next man up and Tacoma is holding their own at 4-4 currently in the AAA PCL.
1) Ian McKinney AA Arkansas has two starts. He has struck out 18 in ten innings and has an overall era of 2.00 with guys hitting .162 off him. If he keeps that up, we will begin to hear about him. Penn Murfee and Alejandro Requena are showing some signs of competence. It's still too early to see consistency and one slip up thows the numbers askew. Arkansas is stocked with veteran minor league talent, insurance, solid up; and down and off to a 6-3 start.
2) George Kirby at Everett A+ has two starts. He's one and one, striking out 12, walking one in 8 1/3 innings. The big news was him giving up a BB which he never did in his pro career to date,. George's velocity is up....he's a 98-102 mph monster now with almost pinpoint control..at 6'4" and 220 lbs, I expect him to knock someone off the M's roster in August or sooner. High ceiling if his stuff has enough movement to fool Major League hitters. Everett is loaded and off to an 8-2 start.
3) Levi Stoudt and Tim Elliott have made a couple starts and in 8+ innings, opponents are hitting right around .200 against them. It's all early stuff, but noteworthy.
4) Modesto's 20 year old Adam Macko sports a 3.24 ERA and has struck out 17 in 8.1 innings. 22 year old Taylor Dollard has a 1.00 ERA and has stuck out 18 in 9 innings. 22 year old 2nd rounder Sam Carlson is just out of the gate with 4.2 innings and 7 strikeouts. Likewise, Damon Cassita-Stubbs is out the gate with 7 strikeouts in 3 and a third innings. 20 year old Luis Curvelo hasn't given up a run in 7 innings. 21 yr old Josias de los Santos has only given up 2 runs in 9 full innings with a 2.00 ERA. Point is Modesto is loaded with young talented pitching and that along with Marte and Marlow are reasons why they are off to a 7-3 start.
As far as who's not hot..... I think that info would be better later down the road. This is just a starter....I think the M's minor league record is current a combined 25-12 so they must be doing something right.
