Not if you extend him. Its easier to extend a guy then it is to bring a new guy of equal talent in. At this point we need to be keeping the proven talent we have while adding veteran talent to it. Otherwise we are continually kicking the can down the road. I am not interested in more young players who might pan out in 3-4 years. By that time Lewis, Kelenic and Gilbert will be expensive and nearing the end of their rookie contracts. We still wont be competitive and we will be talking about moving them for prospects.D-train wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 3:30 pmOnly season in jeopardy is 2022 and JRod might be ready by then or you can sign a replacement for Haniger and Adams will be ready to take over at SS. He is an FA after 2022 and we aren't even going to try this season. 28 teams have won WSs without Haniger so I think its possible.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 3:19 pmIf they trade Hanniger you can kiss competing in the next 3 years goodbye. I originally agreed but this season is now pretty much over and Mitch turns 31 by year end.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 4:18 pmNot if you extend him. Re: Haniger trade ideas
Who knows...
If Mitch is truly read to have 4 to 5 years of this kind of baseball and he can be had for a modest price, I'm not sure I can see trading him.
Abrams would be great return, but then what do you do with Crawford? The only contending team in need of SS help is Oakland... and they could pretty easily trade a couple mid-tier prospects for a Freddy Galvis or Trevor Story.

Hey, I am all about processing new info and coming up with new conclusions. And the new info is that this season is toast.

Ha. You are worried about what to do with JP? Seriously?IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 4:47 pmWho knows...

I'm not that worried about it... but you should be looking to get max return for him if you can.D-train wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 4:53 pmHa. You are worried about what to do with JP? Seriously?IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 4:47 pmWho knows...

JP can be the starter until Sept when we call Abrams up. Then he can play 2B or become our bat boy or new Mariner Moose for all I care.
Abrams only has 220 MiLB PA's... Abrams wouldn't hit the 700+ that Kelenic had until like midway through 2022... God knows the M's would keep him down there until 2023 or some shit.
I think I'd just rather extend Haniger and trade JP at the break or this off season...
Re: Haniger trade ideas
The Mets might be interested. Maybe we can talk them out of DeGrom this time.

Also, can anyone, anyone at all, explain how Ronny Mauricio is a significantly higher rated prospect than Noelvi Marte?
