Those projections are such a joke. Flex had 3.0 WAR in 179 innings pitching most of the year in a 6 man rotation but in 2022 he is only going to put up 1.7 pitching in a 5 man. GTFO. Gilbert had 2.2 WAR in 119 innings but next season only 2.1 WAR. GTFO.

and they have 4.5 WAR between Toro and JK, but lets say its low...how much WAR do you expect Dipoto to add this off season? If its a legit 90 win team as is, what is there to complain about? Why is it they need all the additional pieces?

I see an issue
When you look at the team’s performance based on fWAR (FanGraphs Wins Above Replacement), their true level becomes apparent: the Mariners finished 26th in the league in hitting, 17th in pitching, and 23rd in fielding.

Yep, that's why I said I was going to give the M's 2.3 Wins more than their projections.

Based on that they would need to add about 17 WAR to hit 90 wins again. Negative infinity chance we add more than 10-12 WAR imo.

That is my point, Dipoto is selling a 90 win team, that is a pretty damn good team. That is why he isn't moving France or JP around, its a 90 win team as is. You guys want him to add three pieces. He is looking to add another 6 win piece or whatever, like they did with Cano. That is what he is selling the owners, he isn't selling its three pieces away, its a piece away. His rational for blowing things up before was the team being more than a piece away, well they are still more than a piece away. Its like when he got his extension, lucked into a period of over performing. It could be he pulls it off with his farm, he does have pieces coming,

The Steamer projections vary slightly during the offseason. Here's my original plan with the latest Steamer figures.

Semien, 2B 4.5
France, 1B, 2.9
Schwarber 2.6
Haniger, RF, 2.3
Toro, 3B, 2.9
Kelenic, CF, 1.6
Murphy, Raleigh 2.4
Lewis, LF, 1.4
JP, SS, 3.1
23.7

Gausman 3.6
Gilbert 2.2
Flexen 1.8
Gonzales 1.5
Brash/Dunn/Williamson 2.7 (this is more of a 5th plus spot starts)
11.8

With my estimates
23
14
7.5 - relievers
44.5 WAR, approx 92.5 Wins

With Steamer projections
23.7
11.8
6.5 - nonSteamer relievers
42 WAR, approx 90 wins

I'm going to give the M's 2 Wins more than their projections.

that seems very reasonable, if Dipoto pulled that off they be back in the neighborhood of making the playoffs

Here are a few of the players that we aren't allowed to acquire during the biggest off season in team history due to JD's proclamations of dumbfuckery.

Kyle Schwarber: Proclamation of Dumbfuckery. He is a pure DH
Jose Ramirez: Proclamation of Dumbfuckery. Not trading ANY top prospects
Wilson Contreras: Proclamation of Dumbfuckery. Our catchers are so awesome we don't need to upgrade them
Matt Olson: Actually two Proclamations of Dumfuckery come into play here: France isn't moving from 1B and not trading any top prospects
Max Scherzer: Proclamation of Dumbfuckery. No mention of an Ace or TOR type starter
Corey Seager: Again two Proclamations of Dumbfuckery: The SJW legend JP has been anointed SS for his amazing 700 OPS AND burning bridges with his brother who was the best position player of the past decade.
Bryan Reynolds: Proclamation of Dumbfuckery. Not trading any top Prospects.
If Cleveland, Detroit or Texas outbid us for Semien Jay and I are coming to Boston to shoot your dogs and sell Lynda into slavery. We will then tell Jerry we have a new "switch hitter" to add to his staff. :D
