I have been a casual fan so far and I have noticed this myself. IS this what happens to hitters when they go to Seattle? Oh anything close to the plate with 2 strikes is a strike so I might as well chase because the umps will call me out anyways.

I've seen some people say stuff like "well, he swung at pitches well out of the strike zone for strike 1 (or strike 2), if he hadn't done that then it wouldn't have been strike 3". I don't care if he swung at pitches off the plate earlier. That happened because he was fooled by the pitcher. Its the hitters and pitchers that should decide the game, not the umps. If its not a strike, then the batter shouldn't be punished for seeing the ball well.

Loved that last baserunner out at home. Looked like the ump was going to ask if the guy was okay then realized his predicament and embarrassment so he just walked away.

I only see two pitches there he should have been taking with 2 strikes.

Julio could benefit from robo-umps. Until then he'd better swing the bat because they're not going to let rookies try and walk their way on.

Watched that 3 times. I think at least 5 of those are strikes or close enough that it would be a legitimate judgment call either way. Hate to side with any ump but some of those Julio should have been swinging.

Looking at Divish's chart, I'd say six of the 11 were strikes, or close enough to be called strikes. Lets cut the kid some slack. This is his first time through these teams. Im' not all that concerned about his stats this year. Now JK on the other hand...
