With our starting pitching and the lineup coming together, with this bullpen, I think they could finish the season winning 24 of the final 30 and go into the playoffs as a team to beat.
There's an argument that they are the 2nd best team in the AL right now.

29 games to go for the M's
M's magic numbers to eliminate each team....

Oakland 3
Detroit 6
Kansas City 8
California Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Orange County 13
Texas 14
Boston 20
Chicago 22
Minnesota 24
Cleveland 25*
Baltimore 27
Toronto 29
Tampa Bay 31

*Cleveland is the division leader and will only be in play for the wildcard if caught for the division lead.
Might have to start adding the Yankees in here now that TB is making a race out of it.

Within the next week, that list can get quite a bit shorter by losing Oakland, Detroit and KC.

FanGraphs today gives the Mariners almost as good a percentage to win the World Series (4.2 percent) as the chances FanGraphs gave the Mariners to just advance to the postseason (5.3 percent) on June 19 after the M's dropped four of five to the Los Angeles Angels to fall 10 games below .500.

Quite the turnaround.

Been three straight seasons of quite the turnaround.

2020 started 7-18 and finished 20-15
2021 started 31-35 and finished 59-37
2022 started 29-39 and since went 46-19.

Combined that is starting 67-92 (.421/68 win pace) and then going 125-71 (.638/103 win pace)

Perhaps we begin the season with a sense of urgency in 2023 and we can compete with the Astros for a division title.

M's have the best record in the AL since June 1st. They are a half game better than Houston. That's a sample size of over 3 months as the best team in the AL. If Houston hadnt spanked them when Julio, Ty and Haniger were out with injury, I think they would be the favorite at this point.

Right. Its hard to say they are better than Houston after getting beat by them, but its probably not much of a gap when Mariners are fully healthy.

I don't know the M's have played some pretty bad teams since June 1st, although Houston has too.

Houston has also not faced us with Castillo on the mound.
