As far as Haniger goes, what's the saying, A bird in the hand...?

We know Mitch can perform in T-Mobile when he's healthy. That's more than we know about Ian Happ or Bryan Reynolds or Christian Walker or Josh Bell or any of them.

If guys like Benintendi and Nimmo are actually getting $60-90M contracts, is it more or less risky than 1/20 to Haniger?

Any of the second tier offensive guys could come here and wilt.

There's a lot to be said for only being on the hook for one year.

Personally I'd be offering him the QO because I couldn't care less about their fake budget concerns. A chance at a 30 HR player on a one year contract without giving anything up for him but money, and a chance at a free draft pick if he declines?

A cautionary tale about letting Dipoto hand out contracts, we could still be on the hook for 5 years and $120M to Trevor Story, who- for the second season in a row- had a league average 100 wRC+ bat.

Scary that Diptoot had a similar offer on the table to that bum.

I think I'd prefer he sticks to trades. No surprise he had the offer out to the guy who was the worst hitter of the group.

From Divish-
The Mariners tried to find that shortstop last year in a class that featured Correa, Corey Seager, Trevor Story and Marcus Semien. It didn’t happen with Story, who turned down a similar offer from the Mariners to play second base for the Red Sox.

While perusing Fangraphs I noticed that Dansby Swanson had the highest defensive rating of shortstops. Combine that with him being the weakest bat among the free agents and I get the feeling that he'll be Jerry's target.

Good points but he seemed totally healthy when he played this season in a decent 57 game sample and only put up a .736 OPS. Will be fascinating to see what both sides think his value is relative to the rest of the league.

If anyone was looking for JP on that list you won't seem him on the first page, you have to click on the second page because only 30 per page. He is ranked 41st of 49 but Jerry would GREATLY PREFER to have him at SS than any other SS, even the best defensive SS in baseball.
