another one, Melvin comparing Marcus Semien to Ichiro
"He's similar to Ichiro. There is precision in their work. Every single groundball. Every single throw," Melvin says. "It started when (former infield instructor Ron Washington) got here and he was on his knees just learning how to fundamentally field the ball into his glove, look it into his glove. And then he would get up in a fielder's position, legs underneath him.

"It was an incremental process. And when Wash left, he stayed with it. Every day, he works on every play he's going to make during the game."

Excellent analysis, thanks for sharing.

Btw, both Chapman and Olson are #1 Draft Picks.

Gotta love the A's the way they keep beating down the Yankees. 8-2 last night. In New York. With a manager that wasn't good enough to be a Mariner. And a shoe-string budget. And poor fan support. And a crappy home ball park.

Agreed.

The quintessential TEAM.

Paul Hembekides

Phillies on September 1

2018
72-62 W-L
+4 Run Diff
$95.3M payroll

2019
69-65 W-L
-17 Run Diff
$140.6M payroll

That payroll increase ($45.3M) is the largest in MLB. So disappointing.

And people wonder why owners don't want to shell out ludicrous contracts to slighty above avg. players.

That's who I'm talking about. Will like finish with less than 4 WAR for $28MM.

Btw, the Nats are gonna easily beat out the Phils for the playoffs, without Harper, love it!

And the A’s whipped Houston 3 of 4 recently, before sweeping the Yanks 3-0 in Oakland!

Frickin impressive.

A's blow their 26th save. What could have been.
