IMHO, if JRod goes on the IL for an extended period of time this season, we will be lucky to win 70 games.

The thing that scares me is for every guy under performing there is a guy over performing.

For ever Wong, Teo, Murphy, Fest we have a guy over performing like Marco, France, Geno and does anyone think JK will hit .286 on the season? Gott and Spier also are likely over performing out of the pen. Once everything evens out with a larger sample it feels like we will be right about where we are now.

Just so little margin for error with another weak ass version of Jerry's offense any error be it physical or mental almost always will seem to cost us the game.

OK, so I agree with this in principle. But you could (and likely did) write this in January when the team's roster had more or less been set and all of the offseason dealing was done.

Did we really think that Wong was going to be better than Frazier? Did anyone think that? Murph - god bless him - had one blippy run in 2019 and since then he's been an oft-injured backup catcher. Teo has been a surprise, but maybe not. He can mash it, and we all knew he'd take a lot of swings and misses. But he just looks confused at the plate most of the time. I'd have taken a healthy Mitch over a healthy Teo at this point.

On the flip side, we may have expected a small, sophomore dip from JRod, but he's everything he's been advertised to be, and more. The paragon of consistent excellence. Geo can still swing it, and Ty can just flat out hit. But we knew all of this months ago.

Our starting rotation is amazing, but Robbie Ray looks like he flamed out after his Cy Young year with the Jays. That surprised me a little.

Overall, we are just one France/JRod/Geno injury away from mediocrity. If one or more of them gets injured for a couple of months, we're stuck with the flotsam and jetsam crowd who look as confused as goats on Astroturf. Meanwhile, Servias sits in the dugout with a shit-eating grin no matter how good or bad things look on the field. I'll give him this much - I'd hate to play poker against him.
