New prospect rankings
Re: New prospect rankings
You know there are prospects I really like in the 11-20 and what is really new multiple guys I value in the 20-30 slots
But the top 10? #10 is a 50 rating.
That is a fringe top 85 to 100+ score. Right now the # 100 is a 55. I am betting that changes as more and more call-ups exceed the threshold. Normally you see at least a few 50's in the top 100. And of course a bunch of new prospects got added.
It is kinda funny with the prospect rankings in this year's draft you had some really highly ranked prospects:
65 grades
for Crews, SKeenes, Salas #(3,4,5)
#6to #17 is a 60 grade overall
#18 to #100 and maybe even beyond 100's all have the 55 overall grade.
M's have 3 55 point overall scores but 7 more in the 50's and I really like our #30 prospect Jeter Martinez who was part of a no-hitter recently.
The M's gave a deep-deep class of usable prospects mixed with young 17-18 year-olds with sky high ceilings. But thinking back to 2022 rankings they lack a premium #1 prospect like in 2022 70 grade Julio. So, in my opinion this is the deepest prospect pool I have ever seen the M's have.

Re: New prospect rankings
The last man on the list always sticks out to me, I dont even remember hearing about him before. Looked him up and here's some recent news on him-
Re: New prospect rankings
What I found interesting is that this is the first time I can remember that the top 5 did not include a pitcher.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 12:41 amYou know there are prospects I really like in the 11-20 and what is really new multiple guys I value in the 20-30 slots

While I always want to see one or two P's in the top 5, I am excited to see position players/hitters headlining the list.
Also noted there are no LHP in the bunch but that isn't very bothersome to me.
Looking at FG Roster Resource I scrolled down the depth of LH pitchers in the system and came across Sam Carlson's (RHP) name at High-A Everett AquaSox.
You'd think that at 24.7 years old he would be old for A+ but seven other pitchers on the Frogs are older that Sam. Someone here mentioned he is now being groomed for relief. Not a bad plan; still hope he can make it to the bigs. Hard to believe he was drafted in 2017. Another pitcher on Everett, LHP Reid VanScoter, is a month older but was drafted in 2022. He's the top starter by far on the AquaSox this year.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

Re: New prospect rankings
This team has needed a youth infusion on the offensive for decades. Hopefully this is beginning of what looks to be a very promising group.rockycola wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 1:39 amWhat I found interesting is that this is the first time I can remember that the top 5 did not include a pitcher.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 12:41 amYou know there are prospects I really like in the 11-20 and what is really new multiple guys I value in the 20-30 slots

Re: New prospect rankings
He’s had a good start to his career. Could be a good prospect and top 10-15 guy in 2 years

He has beeen doing great in A+ as relief. Ms will have to add to 40 or lose him this yearrockycola wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 1:39 amWhat I found interesting is that this is the first time I can remember that the top 5 did not include a pitcher.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 12:41 amYou know there are prospects I really like in the 11-20 and what is really new multiple guys I value in the 20-30 slots

I have some notes on the previous ranking.
Cole Young 55 ---> 39

Re: New prospect rankings
Thought of that but he signed almost a month ago....
The Seattle Mariners, who drafted the UVA commit with the 29th pick in the first round, signed Farmelo with a signing bonus for a total deal of $3.2 million. The Chantilly, Va., prospect was Virginia's top recruit for the Class of 2023.Jul 20, 2023
