Here are the scenarios written out including 3 team tie breakers. I think the scenario highlighted in red is the most feasible path to the playoffs. Win tonight, split with the Rangers and Hope that Arizona can take one game against the Astros. If they lose tonight the odds are extremely long.

If the M's go 5-0
M's are AL west champs

If the M's go 4-1
M's are AL west champs if Texas goes 1-4 and and Houston goes 3-1
M's are AL west champs if Texas goes 0-5 and Houston goes 3-1 or worse
M's are Wildcard 2 if Toronto goes 2-3 or worse and Houston goes 3-1 or worse
M's are wildcard 2 if Texas goes 0-5 and Houston goes 4-0 and Toronto goes 2-3 or worse
M's are wildcard 3 if Houston goes 3-1 or worse and Toronto goes 3-2 or better
M's are Wildcard 3 if Houston goes 4-0 and Toronto goes 2-3 or worse
M's are wildcard 3 if Texas goes 0-5 and Houston goes 4-0 and Toronto goes 3-2 or better
M's are eliminated if Houston goes 4-0 and Toronto goes 3-2 or better

If the M's go 3-2
M's cannot win AL west
M's are Wild card 2 if Houston goes 2-2 or worse and Toronto goes 1-4 or worse
M's are wildcard 3 If Houston goes 2-2 or worse and Toronto goes 2-3 or better
M's are wildcard 3 if Toronto goes 1-4 and Houston goes 3-1 or better
M's are eliminated if Toronto goes 2-3 or better and Houston goes 3-1 or better

If the M's go 2-3
M's cannot win the AL west
M's are wildcard 2 if Houston goes 1-3 or worse and Toronto goes 0-5
M's are wildcard 3 if Houston goes 1-3 and and Toronto goes 1-4 or better
M's are wildcard 3 if Toronto goes 0-5 and Houston goes 2-2 or better
M's are eliminated if Houston goes 2-2 or better and Toronto goes 1-4 or better

If the M's go 1-4
M's cannot win the AL west
M's cannot win wildcard 2
M's are wild card 3 if Houston goes 0-4
M's are eliminated if Houston goes 1-3 or better
Thanks for that. Great Stuff! The biggest takeaway is tonight is a MUST win game!
Yep I said that yesterday, they needed to win that game and tonight's game.

Pretty simple now.

For us to get WC3

If we go 4-0 the Astros have to lose at least 1 of the 3
If we go 3-1 they have to lose at least 2 of the 3
If we go 2-2 they need to get swept.

M's can actually still win the division. If they go 4-0 and the Astros go 2-3 it will be a 3 way tie and the M's have the tiebreaker.

Toronto is still in play as well. The Jays have lost 2 in a row against the Yankees and have one more with them today before finishing off with a 3 game series against Tampa.

M's go 4-0 Toronto needs to lose at least 2 of 4
M's go 3-1 Toronto needs to lose at least 3 of 4
M's go 2-2 Toronto needs to lose all 4.

If the M's go 4-0
. If the Astros go 1-2 or 0-3 the M's get a WC spot.
. If the Astros go 2-1, the M's win the division.
. If the Astros go 3-0, then they win the division, Texas get's a WC spot. It's between the M's and BJs for a WC spot (the BJs need to lose at least 2).

If the M's go 3-1
. the Astros need to go 1-2 or 0-3, or BJs need to go 1-3 or 0-4

If the M's go 2-2
. the Astros need to go 0-3, or the BJs need to go 0-4.

Complete insanity that we have started this 10 game stretch 1 and FIVE and still have a decent chance. I mean was going 2 and 4 TOO much to ask???

So pathetic.

If they had just played .500 ball in the month of September they would have 88 wins right now.

And after how great August was? We'd probably be in here talking about "what ifs" even if they had played .500! Just an insane collapse. The thing is, this is what I expected. I just didn't expect us to suck hard, then get red hot, then suck hard again. I totally expected us to compete but not make the playoffs. Just didn't do enough in the off season. That said, I sure allowed myself to buy in after August!
