Mariners prospects are pretty exciting right now. In 25+ years of following and observing this system, I've never seen the organization with anything like the collecion of young hitters that we have right now. It's actually very very impressive.

You know I’m a G2 guy. Montes cutting his K rate from 40% down to 25% last season is pretty impressive though. Hopefully he keeps it up
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo

I am the furthest thing from a baseball talent evaluator relying on the eye test but when I saw Emerson's swing I knew it was special. Seems National Scouts and Services are taking notice:

Fun fact. 17 yo Jeter Martinez gave up 17 hits in 47 innings in the DR.

Carlos Vargas gave up 57 hits in 42 innings in Reno.

The essence of DT in one tweet when a player doesn't scratch his fancy (for whatever reason): He attacks what the player does well, saying it "isn't sustainable" and ignores the ability for the player to improve his perceived weaknesses, in this case Ford's slug.

Ford is 20 years old. What male, let alone a peak MLB athlete, ever peaked at 20? His power will no doubt increase as he grows into his frame. And, did you ever stop to consider (you = all Ford critics) that as he moves up and sees better pitching, he'll be more aggressive at the plate? That higher aggressiveness will lead to more swings and more swings will lead to more contact, thus more balls in play and a higher slug.

Heres what you have to like about Ford:
Elite eye, chase rate (can't be taught)
Elite speed, athleticism for C
Good arm
Elite character, work ethic

Weren't you one of the big Jarred Kelenic / Evan White supporters?

(Rhetorical question because we know you were)

I don't know if dtrain is right about Ford- he did take batting practice with a weighted donut after all, and we know only elite hitters have done that according to Dipoto- but he has a better track record than most.

How about we break down what I actually said and compare it to your absurd translation:

1. I said to Trupin: "Nice write up on Ford" Which means I agree with him. So is Trupin a Ford hater?
2. I said: I think we are going to learn a lot this season based on how he handles AA pitching. Holy shit what an Attack! How dare I make this diabolical prediction!
3. I said: Agree the walk rate which is a big part of his OPS will go down significantly. Whoa another outlandish prediction that he won't walk as much given AA pitchers are older more advanced and have better control.
4. I said: If he can't improve the BA or increase power we could see something like .240/.320/.410. So I predict that IF he can't improve his BA or increase power he will put up about a .730 OPS at age 21. Let's take a peak at what Kyle Lewis did at age 22-23. So I predict he will produce better than Kyle Lewis who won Rookie of the year IF he doesn't improve his BA OR power but that is somehow an Attack?
