The irony is he only has 1 more HR than I do. It is a pathetic lose/lose deal.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 3:44 pmLook, I am not a batting expert. I have never played in the majors. I have never came in second in a home run derby, nor won a ROY award.
So take this shit for what it's worth - armchair managing from someone who has no damned right to manage a little league game.
But from where I sit, Julio's swing is awful and his plate discipline is nonexistent. He swings so hard at every pitch that he literally falls over home plate. It's like he's swinging for the fences on every pitch. We don't need a homerun, every AB - just get on base or drive the leadoff guy in. It looks to me like it's homerun, or nothing for him.
We've played 20 games, and he's had 30 hits and 37 strikeouts! It seems like he's up there hacking at everything. Slow it down. Make the pitcher work. Get a feel for his pitches. Get on base and steal second - that's what he should be doing. IMHO.
JRod is too good a player to be batting .265 with 37 strikeouts by the 1st of May. I hope he dials it in soon - we need him to be better than he is right now.
That said - Boo-ya to beating the Braves last night. What a game. Go, M's!
