I have a question about next year.
Re: I have a question about next year.
I'd take 3 actual everyday outfielders with a Dylan Moore playing 10-20 games in the outfield to give the regulars a rest.
I think trying to spread the playing time around too much has been a big part of the problem with our guys never getting on a roll.
Half the time they'd hit a homerun Servais saw it as a good time to get them a rest.
Need to stop babying these guys, they only work two hours a day.

There's also injuries, i don't want have to count on my three opening day starters staying healthy the entire season to be able to field a decent outfield
Re: I have a question about next year.
Parades would be absolutely a horrible get for the M's. Dude makes Hani look like a contact hitter. Since the Cubs traded for him, he has an OPS+ of 77.....IN WRIGLEY FIELD. He is a dead pull hitter which T-Mobile would eat 50% of the long balls you love that he hits. Plus he is slower than Ty France and is not as good defensively. You trade anything more than a bag of balls for him and you have way overpaidharmony wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 2:56 pmPerhaps it's time for the Mariners to circle back to thirdbaseman Isaac Paredes, Luke Raley's former Tampa teammate who has cratered since his July trade to the Cubs.

The Cubs' top prospect -- Matt Shaw -- has played third base most frequently in the minors this year and is projected to make his MLB debut in 2025. A second Cubs thirdbase prospect, Cam Smith, is a Top 100 prospect at MLB.com (which ranks Shaw No. 22).

The 25-year-old Paredes comes with three years of team control working off his 2024 Super Two salary of $3.4 million.
Who knows what Paredes would cost in trade?

It's worth a look. I mean Isaac is not just a 1 hit wonder so I would bet on Edgar being able to get him going again. And he is in the prime so a nice prospect package would do it. I think, and sometimes guys just flop when they change teams.harmony wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 2:56 pmPerhaps it's time for the Mariners to circle back to thirdbaseman Isaac Paredes, Luke Raley's former Tampa teammate who has cratered since his July trade to the Cubs.

Re: I have a question about next year.
I think he (Robles) deserves to be in there as long as he performs. I think he continues to perform. And If Raley is going to be a 130-ish OPS+ guy he deserves to be in the everyday line-up. An easy answer would be DH/1B/4th OF. But he has 90-th percentile sprint speed. and a 74th percentile arm. And I was wanting to explore adding 3B as a possible position. I just don't know if he has the bend to do those swinging bunt charges where you pick-it barehanded and throw off balance like the skill infielders have to.
To me that would really open it up for getting any of 1B/DH/3B types and still have "Cool hand Luke" in the everyday lineup. I am just spit balling here.
Re: I have a question about next year.
Not really. DIlly is a fine back-up. And with the fact that Robles, Julio and Raley could all play CF makes it silly. And of course you could put either Raley or Rojas out there. And there is always the farm. There are usually a few guys that get called up and have at least some short-term success: Marlow, Ford, Rivas, Bliss, Taylor, Caballero, Haggerty, etc are all guys who I really wasn't thinking like I was about Julio/Gilbert/Cal/Kirby/Brash who had the hype.

Seems to me we're happy to make dipotos job easier for him. Accept a 3rd baseman that's never played the position. Depth consisting of Dylan Moore. I want a team that's viewed as a genuine WS threat. I believe that would take a legitimate 3rd baseman and depth

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Luke Raley will not be playing 3B any time soon.
Re: I have a question about next year.
Should be Robles and Julio Every Day in LF and CF. I cannot believe believe people are locking in Randy over Raley and Robles. Luke can't hit lefties so he is probably on the bench vs. them but he can play OF/1B vs RHPs and maybe Locklear at the RH 1B vs. LHPs.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 5:30 amNot really. Rojas should be nowhere near this roster next season. Need a DH a 2B a SS and a 3B. Four major holes in year 7 of the rebuild and Jerry still has a job.

If Dylan Moore and Luke Raley were the 25th and 26th man, this would be a great team.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 5:16 amI think he (Robles) deserves to be in there as long as he performs.
