Yeah, there's nothing there about a toxic clubhouse or selfish players. Hes saying it's more fun being a dodger, I'll take his word for it

Isn't playing as individuals being selfish?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 5:50 pmYeah, there's nothing there about a toxic clubhouse or selfish players. Hes saying it's more fun being a dodger, I'll take his word for it

It is quite literally what he's insinuating.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 5:50 pmYeah, there's nothing there about a toxic clubhouse or selfish players. Hes saying it's more fun being a dodger, I'll take his word for it
The problem with recent teams has clearly been an unwillingness to play team baseball.
Teo is probably included in that. But a guy in there on a 1-year deal is highlighting the problem with existing leadership. It starts with Servais and probably ends with JP "I chase power even though I'm a noodle" Crawford.
Re: Teo takes a shot at the M's clubhouse
That doesn't have good context to it in this case does it. The year Teo was here JP was the best hitter on the team 133 OPS+.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 7:45 pmIt is quite literally what he's insinuating.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 5:50 pmYeah, there's nothing there about a toxic clubhouse or selfish players. Great. Baseball is larger than raw numbers.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 8:06 pmThat doesn't have good context to it in this case does it. Are you willing to take an extra bag when the team needs it?
Are you willing to move a runner when the situation calls for it?
Are you willing to try to steal a bag in a situation where your team needs a runner on 2nd?
It's about doing the little things that the team needs in the face of your raw stats that turns a good team into a great team. Anyone with eyes knows the M's had routinely fallen short there.
Re: Teo takes a shot at the M's clubhouse
I thought about something else when I read this. I think it was kinda late in the season and Julio hit a sac-fly. I remember the "stats guy" said that was his 2nd sac fly of the year. I thought that sounded really low for a hitter that is a regular.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 8:14 pmGreat. Guys on the M's with more than 2 SF:
Cal 6
Moore 5
Turner 4
Garver 3
5 other guys had 2 SF
That is fundamental team offense. You get on base by taking good ABs, drive the ball when you can, advance to scoring position via slugging, productive outs, SB, etc and get that runner in from third with less than 2 outs. That = team offense.
LAD had 8 with 3 or more and 2 with 8 each. Teo, only had 1 SF
Maybe Teo fit in more with Seattle than he thought.

No, I don't think so. Serpico didn't operate as an individual because he was selfish, it was because he lacked confidence in his fellow officers. It doesn't make sense to call his teammates out for being selfish but characterize it as missing something. He was trying to draw a distinction between the mariners and dodgers. I think what he was trying to get at was lacking confidence. The reason the team played as individuals was a lack of confidence in each other, in the lineup, in the team. I could see the dodgers being a much more confident team than the marinersD-train wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 6:15 pmIsn't playing as individuals being selfish?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 5:50 pme2

So they were a really good talented team that lacked confidence for some reason so they decided to play as individuals instead of one group.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 1:50 pmNo, I don't think so.
