Like I said in my original post. I have no problem trading Harry Ford. I'd just prefer to trade my top 100 prospects for something better than a reliever with a 95 ERA+ and 7.7 Ks per 9. Does the dude have potential? sure but it seems like an overpay. I'd have rather seen Ford go in a package for more sure thing rather than a lottery ticket reliever.Michael K. wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 7:41 pmThe one I reposted shows him hitting 100. Also getting guys to chase out of the zone on balls that are moving like crazy. Again, do you see Harry Ford as the guy getting us over the hump, or a high leverage lefty reliever? What makes this team now better? We act as though all we need is a highly regarded Farm System and they are all just going to show up at the Major League level and dominate and we will be good forever. Or every player we get in return in a trade is going to be an All Star.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 7:28 pm
I watched about half of his 2025 Strikeout video before I got bored. Didn't see him hit 100 once.
On the other hand....

But I guess you've done all the "research" So I just shouldn't comment.![]()
I'd trade three Harry Fords for a WS ring! That window aint going to stay open forever either.

Hows this for a crazy trend. There were 140 pitchers who threw 100 MPH this year IN THE MINOR LEAGUES!

It sure isn't that rare anymore, not saying it is. But how many are late inning LH Relievers? You may end up being correct, but I don't think it was an over pay. Sounds like there is a lot to like about this kid, and we gave up a Catcher that might not play Catcher and doesn't hit for power.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 9:50 pmhttps://www.baseballamerica.com/stories ... w-100-mph/

Again, who makes this team better? I don't believe Ford is the guy that would get this team over the hump as a DH and part time Catcher. But I do believe that adding a high leverage arm was needed, and the fact that he was throws from the left side makes it even better.

The point is that just because the guy throws 98 doesn't mean he is a high leverage arm. People are falling in love with the radar gun and just overlooking the fact that among 147 Qualified relievers in 2025 he ranked 130th in ERA, 99th in WHIP and 95th in K/9. Expand that out to the 325 guys that pitched at least 20 innings and he ranked 225th in ERA, 165th in WHIP and 181st in K/9. The fact is you didn't trade for high leverage arm, you traded a top 100 prospect for a reliever that is a project. The dude is basically a left handed Carlos Vargas. I hope they can maximize some things with him and turn him into a stud. I'd just rather use my trade capitol on players that we have already seen play at an above average Major League level.Michael K. wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 9:53 pmIt sure isn't that rare anymore, not saying it is. I'm worried about this one a little bit myself. I mean, you are what your numbers say you are, right? On the other hand, a guy like him should thrive at T-Mobile. I guess the best thing one can say about him is that he won't be as good as Speier, but at least he should be a lot better than Saucedo.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 10:13 pmThe point is that just because the guy throws 98 doesn't mean he is a high leverage arm. Re: Breaking news! A trade
The home and road splits would suggest that, but who knows? That said, do you really think that Harry Ford provides more value to this team right now than a leverage LH reliever? Everyone is in love with the possibility of Ford...I'm in love with the possibility of having a guy from the left side that can get outs. Both are POSSIBILITIES, but one seems to be much more important to this team.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 10:38 pm

I just don't think we can bitch and moan all the time about how the are always focused on 54%, not winning now, and then be mad about this move.
Re: Breaking news! A trade
Not that it matters anymore but wasn’t Ford resistant to moving off catching?

They tried him in LF for 8 games and it was a flop. He did try it though. He is supposedly so athletic, how could he not play LF. Pharmabro thinks he will make a great 3B though. lol

Re: Breaking news! A trade
He would probably be a good infielder if spent time learning those positions. He has the athletic attributes. But a move to the outfield is much more likely at this point. I think he'll probably catch though.
