Re: Seager Option
right but OPS+ is supposed to offset for the disadvantages of playing at Safeco Field so why is he still so much worse. Is his wife that annoying that he just plays better when he is not around her?

Because their normalizing stats are a bunch of trash.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 10:36 pmright but OPS+ is supposed to offset for the disadvantages of playing at Safeco Field so why is he still so much worse. That would be awesome..... everyday I find more places to see that are different....D-train wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 7:16 pmbtw I am thinking flying from Boston to London for a few days to avoid the 24 hour travel day all the way to Funchal next Sept. Basically a 10 day trip with 3-4 in London and countryside and 6-7 in Funchal. You guys should join us for all or part of it.Coeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 6:57 pmCan’t believe that hasn’t already been addressed. Either Jerry is that guy or Kyle was being dramatic like his wife
Re: Seager Option
Come on guys its not that difficult. He had a .573 OPS at home. The average player probably had about a .710 OPS at T-Mobile so his OPS+ was 54. If he would have had that shit OPS at a hitters home park his OPS+ would have been even lower. His road OPS was .873. By definition ballpark factors of Road OPS is by definition 100 because it is the AVERAGE of all parks. So his .873 OPS equates to a 138 OPS or 38% better than the average player.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 10:36 pmright but OPS+ is supposed to offset for the disadvantages of playing at Safeco Field so why is he still so much worse. Re: Seager Option
It should be roughly the same everywhere, but apparently his hitting profile is horribly suited to T-Mobile.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 8:49 pmBecause he hit like s*** at home and hit well on the road. If his opiates was the same and he played home games at Yankee Stadium is o p s plus with probably about 40Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 8:37 pmIf OPS+ accounts for park factors, Why did Seager have a OPS+ of 54 at home and 138 on the road?
Re: Seager Option
Well for his career he is at .721 at home and and .801 on the road and that includes all the years before they moved the fences in. So its real but this year it was crazy whacked.

Re: Seager Option
Seager doesn't strike me as an A type personality, maybe a B, but even that doesn't seem to be his persona. Not even Passive/Aggressive. He was probably waiting for Dipoto to call him.Mesully11 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 05, 2021 6:19 pmIt's hard to understand for sure.
If Seager wanted to talk to him why didn't he ask to? That's what I would do.
Does Seager feel some kind of entitlement to be included in Dipoto's decisions and plans?
There is no doubt Kyle is miffed but when a person feels that way an good thing to do is go to the person you feel slighted by and ASK him for and audience.
This media airing of grievances might feel like backstabbing to Mariner management.
Divish and the Times are using the negative sentiment by many fans of the long playoff drought and mismanagement of the past, which is not Dipoto's doing. He can only be judged by his time here and the current condition of the club.
Divish rarely gives anything but grief to management and loves to sow dissatisfaction among players.
There is a big off season coming up that will be very interesting and telling about this clubs direction.

Re: Seager Option
That's what I am asking? Why was it so whacked. It has to be something something beyond the disadvantages of the field. Will he continue to have a 54 OPS+ at home if he moves to a new ballpark? Will he continue to have a 54+ OPS if he stays here another year? Or is it just an anomaly and things will normalize next year.

Re: Seager Option
I meant OPS+ but yes this season does seem to be an outlier. Perhaps his commitment to pulling everything and hitting homers has something to do with it.

Re: Seager Option
Safeco is actually more friendly to left handed pull hitters than to righties. And he was pulling everything on the road too.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 3:06 pmI meant OPS+ but yes this season does seem to be an outlier.
