James Paxton will likely have a set back and not be ready till late June and by then we should be looking at Hancock, Kirby, Campbell, Fletcher, Brash and Sam Carlson. One of these guys should be ready by June possibly 2

The only job I’d give James Paxton is doorman at one of the shitters at the ballpark

People would have said the same about Robbie Ray and Carlos Rodon.

Paxton, if healthy (yes, big if) is a guy who will pitch to a sub-4 ERA. Don't be surprised if they re-up him, a lot of current M's pitchers have mentioned how Paxton has been a big help to them this year.

James "set back" Paxton.

Well given that Brash was on the roster this past week he should be ready to go OD but agree on the Hancock, Kirby and Campbell. Fletcher is a middling AAA reliever and our pen is stacked. He's probably just a minor trade chip at best. Carlson didn't have a good season for Modesto so I think best case for him is late 2023.

Trade: Noelvi Marte, Matt Brash, Taylor Trammell to the Indians for 3B Jose Ramirez and LHP Anthony Gose
Trade: Justin Dunn, Juan Then, Tom Murphy to the Cubs for C Wilson Contreras (trade is simply another year of Cal insurance)
Sign: Kyle Schwarber to a 2-year $30 million deal
Sign: Marcus Stroman to a 5-year $125 million deal
Sign: James Paxton to a 1-year $3 million prove it deal (I know people will bitch about this, but it's a low-cost high ceiling signing)
Extend: Jose Ramirez - add 4-years $120 million

1. Kyle Lewis CF
2. Ty France 1B
3. Jose Ramirez 3B
4. Kyle Schwarber DH
5. Mitch Haniger RF
6. Jarred Kelenic LF
7. Abraham Toro 2B
8. Wilson Contreras/Cal Raleigh C
9. JP Crawford SS

Bench: Dylan Moore UI, Jake Fraley UO, Jake Bauers UO

1. Marcus Stroman
2. Chris Flexen
3. Marco Gonzales
4. Logan Gilbert
5. James Paxton

Pen:
Lefties: Missyshit, Gose
6th/7th: Sadler, Swanson
8th: Sewald, Steckenrider, Castillo, Giles
CL: Munoz
That's a real nice roster other than Stroman is a tool and Gausman is a better pitcher so he is by far my choice for the Ace. Your bench is horrid though. I would at least keep Torrens over Bauers. Your pen is very good and bold move converting Gose from OFer to LHP. lol :)

We already have a full time DH. He's just not good enough to be full time, but he's still taking up the roster spot like one.

They just don't want to pay for a good one, then they'll act shocked when their offense continues to score less than other good teams.
But I really don't think they view Torrens as a full time DH as evidenced by working him out at 3rd base recently. They've stated several times that they plan on using a rotating DH to give guys "days off". Not my preference by any stretch, but that's their stated plan going forward.
I know. Just as bad of an idea as not getting a player before this season started.

No idea why they insist on giving guys with .750 OPS and .810 OPS a "day off" at DH, just to jettison an actual DH that produces a .900 OPS. Even when their best bats get the day off, it's a downgrade from an actual DH. Makes zero sense, and they could still follow that plan by using the DH off the bench as a pinch hitter, or getting a day in the field at their best spot.

It's good Torrens is moving, he doesn't have the bat to be a DH yet.

And they will probably assume Schwarber is terrible defensively because he weighs 230 lbs when he is actually better then most of our OFers.

Gose is a pitcher. They converted him a lil while ago and he's been pitching in AAA for the Indians.

I think Servais would rather have a bench with positional versatility. Torrens ain't that. My bet is they think they can squeeze more out of Bauers than they've gotten. Moore is quality bench guy, as is Fraley.

Your bench is primarily going to be used for pinch running and defensive substitutions. Torrens is not good at either of those things. I don't think you can afford to keep a guy on your bench whose only value is as a pinch hitter.
